Strange polishing method???

I just pass from a professional car painter and he was trying to polish a car.i saw a wet car(really wet with water on it),polish just putted all over the car(not applied he just placed the polish on the entire car),and he was working by a rotary polisher.the pad was in a really bad condition (it lost it shape and some pieces of it were missing),he didn't even tried to hold the pad flat on the paint and he was spraying more water every time that move on the next area...Who correct is this polishing method??For me it was so strange that i didn't knew if i had to cry or laugh...i was to shy to take some photos or even a video just to him.....
 
I think I've heard of that wet method. Someone told me that there is a method when you need to keep the pad wet with water during polishing. I don't know if this method is good or bad...
 
People do all sorts of weird stuff...being*unique* isn't always being *right* ;)



Unless the product is made to be used wet, and unless he doesn't mind getting sling everywhere (incl. behind trim/etc.), and unless he has some really good reason for doing it that way (which I probably wouldn't believe ;) ) then I'd simply :rolleyes: and never think about it again. Eh..on second thought I'll just :rolleyes: anyhow.

Was he using Farcela products by chance. Around here they come in squeeze tubes and are to be used with water. Never seen them in use though.

Heh heh, see how this works out...I no sooner :rolleyes: about somebody's seemingly goofy approach than it turns out it might be OK after all :D Sure sounds messy though.
 
farcla needs water, but not a lot...simply because that stuff is like putty! You could probably make your own claymation cartoon if you tried.



...and if you guys think menzerna dusts a lot...
 
Oh god... This reminds me of the story of that shop that used an old paint brush from a vat of old polish, used gasoline or kerosene to do a carpet extraction, and soaked the engine bay in WD40 and wiped it down afterwards etc etc etc... If my memory serves right, the author was explaining common practice among Chicago, IL detail shops.



..In my honest opinion, I'm surprised it didn't burst into flames.

Hah, I have never heard of this -I'd love to see it in action. It sounds so retro! :P



Hmm, well I've only really gotten frustrated at the dust when using Menzerna Powergloss.
