STP Window Treatment Blade

The Whaler Loves Detail City
After cleaning my windows I tried the STP Window Treatment Blade. Behind the foam pad/blade there are wings that doubles as a handle.Pinch the wings together until you hear a pop. Once popped the treatment solution is released into/onto the the foam blade.Take the blade and rub it onto the glass until you have completely covered the area. Let it dry for a few minutes then buff off with a towel. To insure complete coverage I went over the windows twice. It's suppose to rain the next couple days so I'l get to see how it repels water. Thanks Toods for the blade! Rick

By the many responses to this thread I feel like I should do a follow up. It's been raining quite steadily the last couple days and the STP is working wonderfully. As advertised the raindrops are whisked off the windows by the wind leaving a clear view in front of me.Durability is still a question. Wish I could find these in my local auto stores.

No chatter or smearing. I wonder why these aren't on the market any more.

From your description it sounds very similar to Aquapel which is made by PPG. Maybe PPG decided not to let it be rebranded anymore if they happen to be the same. Dont know if it is the same though. And if its anything like Aquapel, it should last a really long time. Mine has been on for about 7 months. Still not as strong as when I put it on, but it still beads up water and the wind blows it off nicely even in the winter.

Winter is over the rains are here and the STP window treatment is still working. Can't say it's doing the same outstanding job it was doing when first applied but I can see the rain whisking off the glass by the wind.

I have not tried the STP treatment ,but i do use rain x with 303 wiper blade treatment.I'm not sure of the durability because i use rain x on the windshield with every wash, and theirs no blade chatter.. Thanks for keeping us posted.

I recall Aquapel being rebranded a few years ago. This sounds like an example of it. Since it appears to work as long as you are experiencing, this sound like a great product to seek out.

You are correct in that the STP Visionblade is PPG's Aquapel rebranded. I have bought both from sellers on eBay and the only difference is that the STP is in a blue container. The literature, stickers and cards in the boxes are almost identical. The Visionblade I bought is old stock and is maybe two to three years old. One was used on a new Dodge Caliber three weeks ago and it worked perfectly. I was able to get every window done and went over the windshield a second time to make sure it was covered. I buffed the windows after it dried with a damp mf and it looked great.

It rained heavily a few days later and the owner (Escape Girl's husband) was amazed at how it performed. Having had Aquapel on my windshileld for more than a year I know what it's like. Rain-X is great but this is even better in that it lasts a very long time and no blade chatter at all.

I hope this helps a little to clarify things.

I like this product alot but I have never seen it in any U.S. store. A very nice fellow member from north of our border sent me a couple. If I could buy them I surely would.

I see that Target now sells Aquapel single use packs for $9.99. (In their "As Seen On TV" section, last I saw.) :notme:

I think that's pretty much the going rate for Aquapel. Anything less and ya need ta order a hunert or so.

I thought it was actually reasonable for Target to charge $10, considering they got the "special" plastic hard-to-open-soas-to-prevent-shoplifting shell/case and spiffy write-up on the package as well as allowing the typical consumer the chance to buy 1 at a time.
I think the "professionally installed" price for Aquapel is over $35 per application.

(The STP was even more than that, IIRC.)

Anyways, just a heads up incase anyone was interested in trying it and didn't want to factor in S+H.
