Store bought waxes

Which of the following store bought waxes seem to work the best. Megs NXT, Eagle One Nano wax ,Turtle wax Ultra,Mothers Reflection, and Megs. Color X.

I found the NXT to work pretty well. Applied/removed easily and gave a shiny finish that looked different from the wax that I had on the car before.
A little goes a long way. Beading died after a few weeks (if you like beading, 'cause that's not supposed to show end of protection, I've heard). I think it smelled kind of like a fruity shampoo, or something. Not bad anyway. Fills in cobwebbing.

Reflections is able to be used in the sun or shade (not mentioned on the bottle or website, but it does work that way). Doesn't seem to stain trim. Smells like cologne. Helps with cobwebbing, not much with scratches. Also a nice look. Seems to last the longest of the ones mentioned that I've tried.

Nano wax smells fruity too. Pump leaked on me. Fills in cobwebs pretty well. Doesn't last long. Slick.

ColorX gets rid of oxidation pretty well, especially if you have to use hands only. Don't know about durability, as I've used it only once, and don't see it more than once a year.

Never tried TurtleWax Ultra.

EO seems to have a problem with their packaging. I dropped a bottle of A2Z and it broke wide open, a new bottle leaked when it fell on its side.

not sure what you mean by work the best- what works best for you will be dependent on lots of things. there is no real best, but there are many quality products from different companies.

I use Meguiar's deep crystal #3, or #26, or else NXT for wax, all are easy on / easy off. Thinner you can spread the easier to remove. Can get them anywhere.

S100, my current favorite, ( motorcycle shop in town or else online) is great stuff too, spreads like butter. I threw down quick coat this morning.

I dont think you can go wrong with NXT, S100, Mothers, #26.

I like the S100 as my pick of that bunch, but they are all fine IMO...

when I used to use over the counter type waxes I loved Mothers and that was all I used. However, I have used the NXT a few times to test it out and I dig it.

:ranton I have had the exact same problem. They sprayer they use on the Wet tire spray ends up leaking all over my hands when I use it too. And the A2Z is a paint to pump out of there when you get near the bottom. I can't fault the products, but the packaging blows. :moon:@ whoever makes the sprayers for EO

I was using NXT & was very satisfied with it.

Stopped beading pretty quickly so I regarded it more as a polymer sealant & needed to be topped with some carnauba ... I used s100.

Nice smell, on & off easy, I questioned the durability because beading faded so quickly.

Mother's California Gold pure Carnuaba wax was what I used a few years back before joining DC and Autopia. I still consider it a pretty good wax and is what I recommend to friends who just want to drive to the store and pick something up. I also recommend buying their sealer/glaze too.

I used to use their three step all the time and had decent results as well.

Were I work they used Nano wax on 3 cars a BMW, a Mersedes and a Plymouth Prowler and all 3 had that super black wet look. A few weeks ago I myself used Turtle Ultra on a dark blue Rolls Royce and it also had that wet look gloss. Ive also used NXT and it came out super . It just seems to me that which ever one you choose the results will be great. All 3 seem to give similar looks . Mothers Reflection was always good. Now the quertion is which one last the longest. P.S. I do know that Zaino, Klasse, Poorboys and Pinnacle are the best.

My first post will not a bad way to join detailcity ;)

I have used NXT, TWPUG, Nanowax and mothers reflections quite extensively to do over 6 cars in the family. They are very close to each other, and my overall rating would be as follows (top product is 100)

1) Reflections
2) Turtle Ultra - 97
3) NXT - 95
4) Nanowax - 94

That should give you an idea of how close they are to each other. Breaking up by categories.

1) Reflections
2) NXT - 94

4) Turtle Ultra - 91

Slickness after 24 hours

1) NXT
2) Reflections - 95
3) Nanowax - 94
4) Turtle Ultra - 92

^^nice post Alex!

I have used NXT and EO Nano. I really like NXT because it gives the shine I've never seen before, and it fills swirls nicely. EO Nano is not too far behind, but I don't think it's as shiny (on medium blue metallic). I don't think you can go wrong with any of the wax you just mentioned, but you may get a slightly different look from each.
