Storage and container question for the pros

Now that I'm detailing every night I was wondering if any pros had any tricks or tips on storage for microfiber towels and pads? Both used and un-used. I leave my tools and products at the dealership, but I have to transport my microfiber towels and pads back and forth from home to clean them. I've actually been using plastic grocery bags to bring new towels and pads from home, then have separate plastic bags to put my used towels/pads once I'm done using them. I have a Metro-Vac duffel bag I've been using to transport everything to and from home.

Does anyone have a better solution? I've been thinking of buying a rolling tool box or something to make it easier.

That looks like an amazing tool box, but I'm not sure if it would help with my MF/pad problem. Maybe I'll just get a bunch of those plastic bins to keep the new stuff separated from the used stuff.

That would work too. I was thinking for you how he has the 3 dividers, 1st for both new pads and towels, 2nd for soiled towels and 3rd for used pads. But the smaller plastic bins would be much cheaper.

If you are mobile a rolling work station is the best way to go: Product Storage - Detailing Station - Detailing World.

When I do go mobile I use a clear rubbermaid storage container to carry my pads/microbes towels in. When I am done I usually through them in a mesh bag like this one: HEAVY DUTY MESH DRAWSTRING BAGS.

But if you are worried about them getting dirtier in that mesh bag I would probably just get a medium sized rubbermaid container and throw them in there.

That thing is awesome!

I knew someone would like it! It is called a Stanley Fatmax Work Station. I have been meaning to buy one, but I just don't do that much mobile stuff. I am afraid it would just take up much needed space in my garage lol.

The bins shown in Tumblewed's picture are the only ones to use--note they have the clamps at each end to keep them closed. Otherwise the tops pop off everytime you pick them up if they are filled with towels.

Vega. What about the plastic bins that have the split lid on top that folds together. Would make it simple to bring new and old MF'a back and forth.

Oh nice, I didn't think of that. I'd like it more if the dirty towels/pads were quarantined away from the fresh towels/pads as much as possible. I hate grabbing a new towel/pad with the fear that it was contaminated with the dirty ones. So now I'm think plastic bins are the way to go. Three separate ones.

I went to Home Depot tonight and checked out a few rolling work stations like that. I think it's a little overkill for my application. If I had to transport my tools and chemicals it would be perfect. But thanks!

That might be the way to go. I'm thinking I just need three medium sized plastic bins since I can wash and dry them before the next night. I can even add a fourth bin for overflow towels and pads when I detail for a full day on Saturday and Sunday. I'm going to pick three bins that will fit into my new detailing cart. Thanks Pat.

Found this photo of one with a lid on top.

Those might be the winner. Now if I could just find the dimensions. I want to make sure they fit my detailing cart. I just ordered this one: LUXOR BUTC111BU Tub Cart, 3 Shelves, Plastic, Blue: Service Carts: Amazon.com: Industrial & Scientific

I just use the rubbermaid containers from lowes, throw em in the back of my truck and go

sorry no pics but i will post one when i get home

I ended up buying three Sterlite Gasket Boxes in the 32 Qt size (18 1/2" L x 14 7/8" W x 11 1/4" H). I found them at Target for $9.99 each which looks like a good deal since they sell for a little more money on Amazon. I picked them because I liked the "air and moisture seal" around the lid. It's a thick gasket that sits inside of a lip. There are four clamps around the lid so everything stays nice and secure.

It's been working out great so far, but I need to go back and buy at least three more. I just have a lot more microfiber towels and pads than I realized, and having more boxes will make it easier to organize my supplies.

When I'm finished for the night I have a box to keep all my dirty towels/pads to take home with me.

Thanks for the help everyone. :)
