the pad that comes with the pc is absolute garbage, don't use it as any indication of what to expect from quality pads. The only thing you have to worry about while drying 6 is flying pads.

Once in a while when I have a lot of pads I just cleaned, I will throw them in the washing machine on the 'spin cycle' (some times twice) to get most of the water out.

The pad itself is not junk! It was never meant to be used this way and full of water something is going to give.I used mine on the car at 6 many times
Even though it states in the instructions to never use your PC this way ,people still go ahead and abuse their PC's .
Your new Sonus pads will dry out fairly quick.The orange pad will take a little longer but the others seem to drain the water out fairly quick.A couple hours out in the sun and there dry :xyxthumbs

If you run a PC "unloaded" the pad freewheels and starts spinning at incredible speeds. Lake Country and Meguiar's pads are probably designed to spin at semi-high RPM for use with rotary polishers, while the Porter Cable white pad probably was not, since it is designed only for the random orbit PC. I'm just guessing, but it seems somewhat reasonable to me...
