Stock White UDM pad what is it? Some sites are selling the basic UDM package with 6.5" white polishing pad and here it's the 6.0". I notice that the UDM site sells the White stock pad for $9.95 so can it be total junk like the stock PC pad?

It's not junk like the pad that comes with the PC. You can actually use this one. :buffing:

UDM Replacement Polishing Pad.

Replacement for standard foam polishing pad that comes with the Ultimate Detailing Machine Model 1000 car polisher.

For use with low abrasive "swirl remover" and "pre-wax cleaner" polish formulas.

Let me attestify to Lynn's words. While it is not top tier pad (to quote DavidB it is of "cheap and cheerful kind") it definitely is not like the pad that comes with the PC, it is quite OK. Actually I used it few weekends ago when I ran out of my other pads and it did just fine.

My UDM came with the 6 inch pad, the 6.5 inch pad looks much better. The 6 inch one seems cheaper qualitywise compared to LC CCS pads, the back of its edges stick out a tiny bit from the pad a bit and the backing doesn't seem as durable. Why do some UDM's come "standard" with different pads?

If you got the UDM at the San Diego thing then yea, you got the good white pad... as well as the good green, blue, and orange pad.

There were two different pads with the UDM? I'm glad I got the good one :D it has those indents where the polish goes...

That's the one I got with my new UDM this week too, and I tried it out tonight with Meguiar's #83 and I like it! I like the UDM's white pad better than the Lake Country pad, probably because the smaller size makes it easier to maneuver. I wish I could find a place that sells these pads up here in Canada! Does anyone know of one?

eshine.ca of course you already know that because that's how you bought your UDM

But eshine doesn't sell that pad though, if you look on their site it only shows the 4", 6.5 and 7.5 LC pads, but it doesn't have any 6" pads like the one that comes with the UDM.

I got the scratch buster pad with the UDM. I'm glad I got it, it works really nice and there's a small safe zone for the backing plate. I didn't know that there's two different pads that come with the UDM.

Is the white pad that comes with the UDM (no CCS style indents) the same foam as LC white pads?

Is this a good pad to use to with PGP, or should I use my UDM Green pad instead?

They are both polishing pads but they do not appear the same foam type. I have only used the CCS type with my UDM but I do have the white pad that came with my UDM.

The stock UDM pad (white 6.5" pad) is a common REGICELL 60 foam. This pad is good for light polishing and pre-wax cleaning tasks. It does not have enough density or cut to bbe useful as a swirl or defect removal pad. It can also be used with cleaner waxes, such as Klasse AIO or Meguiar's ColorX.

Replacements are available from Foam Polishing Pads

The ScratchBuster pad is a pre-polymer foam with a density and structure that is nearly the same as the Swisstex orange foam. It has a slightly large pore, allowing it to work very well with light cut compounds and agressive swirl removers.

The pad is cut to a smaller diameter (5.75") to make it work even faster when used at higher speeds with the UDM.

When used with a quality polish to remove defects, this pad leaves very little (if any) hazing.
