hey i got a question...well my dad bought a van and some carpets are kinda rough...like it seems that there was some kind of liquid was dried on it and made the carpet kinda rough, the car also has this dried water stench...how do I clean and replenish the carpet and get rid of the smell...

it is likely that it is not just the carpet but the padding, the seats, the doors, the whole shebang.





take a day remove a seat, trim and look underneath.
 
Was this recently after Katrina? Often times musty carpets hide other issues, like mildewed padding or serious water damage to the car's electrical system. If the padding/backing is trashed, nothing you can do to the carpet is going to take out the smell in the long run.



In the short term though, using an "odor bomb" will take it out temporarily. Doing this and then selling the car might result in the next owners coming back and kicking your ***, unfortuneatly.
 
It sounds like it might be a flood car... although you may be able to fix the inside, you don't know what's wrong with the rest of the car. I hope it ends up well in the end for your dad.
