You will be amazed how many young kids can't drive a stick. We hire guys all the time and when they finally come out of training and get their company truck. Several of them will come back with their keys to me and say I need a different truck, I can't drive a stick. I always tell them well you better learn. We used to make our 20 yr old secretary take them out and teach them how to drive one. It was a humbling experience, when an extremely beautiful 20 yr old girl is teaching these tough macho guys how to drive a stick.

I learned to drive on a 28 ft grain truck with a split axle, and you had to double clutch to shift.
