Steps for Blackfire

Next week I'm going to reapply Blackfire on my Black Stratus. Now, I clayed, blackfire polished, and applied the blackfire before, but i've been told that to get better results, I should use something a little more abrassive between claying and using BF polish? Anybody recommend what to use between these steps?

Your paint prep steps are really determined by the condition of your paint. It would help if you can describe the swirling/micro-marring on your paint, and under what conditions they are visible.

Mainly the spider-webbing is visible only in direct sunlite. It doesn't show under flourescent light that I have in the garage. I know I'm not going to get rid of this, I just want it to look the best it can. The paint isn't that dirty (was clayed and polished in december about 8k miles ago).

Id say your due for some rejuvination ! I think your only option with using BF II, which I use all the time, is to clay, clean, SMR, polish, seal.....You really need to work the polish prior to the sealant, its like soap and water. It works better with the polish as a step. CMA even recommends it. So as opposed to using glazes, which i think are going to be impossible with BF II (with the exception of VM, which im testing now), you must try to eliminate the swirls......

I tried Menzerna Final (and Intensive in places) prior to BF. I was surprised at how gentle these products are. Final didn't really seem to do much, from what I could tell. Intensive did remove the swirls nicely without leaving any haze. The only problem is removal of the stuff, especially Final. I followed the directions, but the polish dried like glue, so I'd have to scrub like hell using my MF. I've read where other people have had this problem as well, while others say it works great. In any event, it eventually produced a very nice finish prior to BF. But because of these difficulties, I'll probably use 3M SMR next time when swirls reappear.

You may want to hit the phone book and call ahead to see if your local stores carry 3M products....
