It dulls the coating (along with removing some of it). I am not saying don't use one, but I pretty much only use one when I am refinishing the leather. I used one yesterday before I refinished a couch and BMW seats.
To respond to the OP, I use a Daimer. It has been pretty good.
I can assure you none of the coating was damaged.
When you refinish leather how do you "add" back the shine you say was removed?
