Steam Cleaning Wheels & Arches...

I got it and tested Bissel Handheld steam.

Not enought hot steam to remove anything.

Too weak. I doubt if it can clean anything in bathroom.

I will try more if it comes out more hot steams.

I am lazy to return it lol

drifts500- Eh...you might still find it useful for not-too-bad jobs around the house. I used mine on the frames of my house's windows and their crank-out mechanisms.

I dont know if I got broken one or something...it is not hot.

I can even spread it to my arm even the red lights turn off

Mine was probably a different model (this was a while ago), but it sure got way too hot for that. Maybe yours *is* defective.

I also had my car detailed using steam, but by a pro. How much does a steamer cost anyway? I might do it myself next time.

crisR- Welcome to Autopia!

I don't have a really decent answer for you, but there's a *huge*, wide range of steamer prices. One like my Daimer is over a grand, but there are some decent ones for a few hundred. Even the really cheap ones can satisfy some people, just be careful with those as when they fail they can scald you (guess how I know).

What are some things to look out for in a steamer? (i mean the last thing i wanna do is melt something off or ruin something....)

Those aren't the things to worry about ;) That's a matter of how you use it.

You want something powerful enough (for me, more power is better, period). Safe and reliable. There are a scad of different features and it's easy to spend a fortune. It's also easy to buy something inexpensive and have to replace it right away ;)

Sorry, that's not much of an answer, but IMO it boils down to how much you want to spend (oops, that borders on a pun :o ).

I guess quality is what I'm after for the best price possible lol I'm just new to the whole steam cleaning thing--and I can definitely see myself ruining something

Just remember that steam is hot and watch that you don't melt stuff. Or, more likely, scald yourself (wear gloves..you'll still do it anyhow though ;) ).

Yeah, I melted a platic hood-rod retaining clip :o And I melted a line in some synthetic carpet (sure didn't expect that one). But those are the only times I've caused any damage and the clip was simply stupidity plain and simple; I overdid it in an effort to speed things along.

hmmm...lol not sure if i want to trust myself with this....but I mean, it seems after the initial investment--It might save me a good amount of money in product in the long run.... hmmmmmm

Alexshimshimhae- I wouldn't buy a steamer based on any kind of cost savings related to products you'd use instead of steam. But that's just me and it's not like I've run any kind of real analysis of it.

Bringing this one back from the dead. I would love to get my hands on a basic steamer. What recommendations can you give me without breaking the bank?
