Steam Cleaning Engine?

As far as detailing the engine and engine compartment would a steam cleaner be a good tool to use? If so what brand /model would you advise?
 
I don't think it would have enough pressure to blast anything off. Most steamers lightly blow steam out.





A better alternative would be warming your engine first. This has worked fine for me.

I have this steamer in my shop. It works very well at cutting grease. It isn't my first tool of choice for engines but it does nicely for the stubborn spots. Same for door jambs...



It's the heat that makes it effective, not so much the pressure.
 
Back in the day I had a propane-powered steamer that would *really* cut through the [stuff]. It was a pretty big thing, about the size and shape of a sandblaster and it weighed maybe 75 lbs. I sold mine after we closed the dealership and I haven't seen one for ages, but I'm a little surprised that none of the pros here have such a beast.
