Stealing Valve Stem Caps!!!!!

It's definitely all age groups. A few years ago, I bought a set of Helo 813's for my Chevy Lumina, with the non-standard chrome caps, that you can't find in the store. I came out of walmart to find some knuckle-head spinning them off!

The regular Walmart variety of chrome caps are about $2.99. Is $2.99 really worth a thrashing?

I even bought some Cadillac caps for my Eldorado, though I haven't put them on for fear of the five-fingered discount.

Now I just by the regular walmart variety, and I keep a 3/8" nut driver in the trunk to make them nice and tight. kinda hard to get them off without the nut driver. The little points hurt peoples fingers.

I didn't know about the locking caps - I'll be picking those up very shortly.

HAHA-I had the same problem and I am sure it was young kids on bikes like I did when I was younger. I finally got the spin caps that are on the link somewhere above and they attach with a little 2 prong wrench and work great. I am sure the kids were po'ed when they tried to get them off-haha.

Big thing around here is that guys will pull up with a sawzall, crawl under your car and cut out the cat converter-apparantely there is a good amount of precious metal in those like titanium, ect...

I've not had my chrome caps stolen but through the years, parking lots have been a common ground for thefts of minor auto parts. Many times I've found my plastic caps missing. Just recently, I noticed the rubber bumpers for the gas filler door on my wife's Tahoe had be swiped. That's annoying because finding the right ones to replace them will be a bit of a pain. The only way to do it is to find another Tahoe in a parking lot and get a good look at theirs before heading down to the parts store to make sure I get the right ones, and of course as soon as I look at someone else's Tahoe, they will come along and think I'm stealing gas from them.

The worst thing ever stolen from me was back in the day before we had locking hoods. Someone opened my hood and stole a battery cap. I got home and smelled the mess I had to clean up. I guess it could have been worse.

You can get the replacement gas door bumpers from the Chevy parts dept. for like 4 bucks. I have had to do it a couple times now.
