Static charge

Hey guys, what can I use to get rid of the static charge in the seats of my truck. Everytime I get out of my truck and reach to close the door I get zapped by 10,000v of static electricity.

Thanks for the help.

:shocked I thought I was the only one who was experiencing that! I hate it with a passion. Every time I get out of my jeep.....:scared, I'm electric shocked and find myself looking like a moron jumping from the shock!!:o Anyone know what it is?

I think it has to do with how your vehicle is grounded. I've got leather seats and mine will do that to me too. So its not the seats that cause it. I think if you keep your hand on the door until both feet are on the ground then you won't get the zap. I figured it out once how to avoid it but I can't remember what it is. Its one of those things that is automatic now, ya know?

I thought this was going to be about dust. Interesting Jngrbrdman, I'll have to try that. I get zapped every day when it's cold out.

Again! Ginger hits it!

Hold a painted surface on the door, swivel to put both feet on the ground, stand up, let go. Touch the car. Bet it works.

It works because the static discharge no longer occurs as a spark on your finger. But in case you get out of your car the "wrong" way, you can still avoid most of the pain by holding a key (with as much of your hand as possible) and touch your car with the key. Now the spark is between the key and the car, not the car and your hand.
