I allready have the normal stuff, wash mitt, lots of terry cloth towels, and other minor things.

Can anyone see anything I might have left out, or other things you would recommend?
 
Small pressure washer and a extractor, a cheap one like a Bissel. I who suggest when you purchase more products to buy by the gallon. And on your pricing do a basic wash for $20.00. Just mah 2 cents, thomas

I decided to not go with the Bissel because no one seems to be impressed with it, plus I would rather have a hot water extractor that I dont have to mix shampoo with.
 
If your going to be working outside, I would suggest getting some Poorboys products. They are safe to use in the sun. I'm not knocking the Meg's #20, but I'm really impressed with the Poorboys EX. Use it in the sun, great shine and probably equal durability.

Just my opinion....

You don't NEED to use shampoo in the Bissel. Just prespray your carpets with a non foaming carpet cleaner, wait, then brush, then use the Bissel with water only to rinse/extract.

Its the cheapest hot water solution there is, and most of the work is in the brushing anyway not the extraction, IMHO. (If I was forced to choose between a good brush or a vaccum to care for carpets, I'd take the brush every time)
 
I did get Poorboys EX, but I am also getting the Poly Seal for people that want it (Plus I can charge extra :D ).

you must be reading my mind....I've had expensive extractors and they are great if you have a shop and it sits in one place and you have time to then clean it out ....very effective...

ok now call me crazy....but when I was doing mostly mobile detailing I bought the Craftsman steam cleaning kit for my shop vac...it has a 100ft hose to reach an unlimited source of hot water, a sink...also I use very low suds degreaser /APC which leaves little or no residue in fabric.....

for preparation of using a steam cleaning system, brushes are great...alway brush in one direction and usually toward the back of the car where I collect the loosened dirt...this will also help separate fiber of carpet before cleaning, especially if you are going after someones old mess..or a beach car...sand sucks...no other way to put it...

a side note ..Bissel makes a full size steam cleaning machine for houses..(about $200)it also has on-board heat and I've heard can do some good work in and out of the house...there are attchments for cars and chairs etc..

Ever try a combo of a shop vac and a blow gun hooked up to a compressor? I've found it makes it next to easy. Just hold the vac behind where you are blowing. All the sand goes right up!
 
to get sand out of carpets try this... Take a vibrating sander with a velcro backing... push down into carpet and lift slightly this will lift the carpet up and vac up the sand ... sounds stupid but works good for getting deep down sand... :D
