stains on textured vinyl stripes...

These white stains are new for my eyes to see and I`ve worked on several Hellcats with these exact textured vinyl stripes.

I`ve used gyeon water spot remover on the water stains on these stripes (applied to a towel and rubbed into vinyl) so I`m not really worried about those.

I`m guessing the white haze is silicon/wax buildup? car was on showroom floor and owner has only taken it through a touchless.

I tried some mckees matte spray the first time I saw these and it didnt clean them up, but I didn`t have anything else on me at that time when I saw the car.

It`s going to be a few weeks until I get to this vehicle but I was going to try a Paint Prep product and then either use Mckees matte spray or coat it with gyeon q2 matte.

Can I steam this? I just have a little McCulloch 1385 or whatever, so its not super powerful but im worried about how deep into the fibers of this textured stripe those stains may be.

I`m only a fan of these stripes on the light colored Hellcats personally.

Not sure if you`ve seen these in person but it`s like two different directional weaves in there when you look at it up close.

Anyone have any suggestions other than what my plans are?

Always interested in other views/methods

Thanks

Is it possibly some light oxidation? I am interested to see what others have to say also.

I sure hope not because I don`t think there is a way to remove oxidation from that type of vinyl without altering the appearance.

If it might be wax have you thought bout mckeeys wax remover

I have a bottle of that. I was gonna try Gyeon Paint Prep first though but steaming it also was in consideration because its a pretty thick and textured vinyl with lots of weaves in it so I figure if that is wax, it`s probably deep into the fibers.

I was thinking it was wax from the touchless wash. Some McKees Plastic cleaner might work. I would save steaming for last.

I`d probably take steaming off of the table. We use heat to make decals easy to remove. I`d worry it might break down the adhesive.

Here`s a nice thread i found. Problem vehicle is an 09 Mopar.
Personally ide try Poorboys ProPolish.

How To Maintain Vinyl Graphics/Stickers/Stripes/Decals

thanks. those are the same stripes as mine actually and I recently got some water spots on there (because I stripped it and then didn`t fully protect and left it outside b/c I had a car in my garage and of course it rained) and I tried everything in the PB line and no luck w/the water spots, nor gyeon water spot remover or anything else I have.. I even went so far as to kind of alter the appearance in certain lighting because I was determined to get it where it needed to be- and of course still has the spots

anyways...I`m not comfortable trying any of abrasive and not too sure that I`d want to risk a chemical abrasive like PP either...these are vinyl, yes, but if you touched them and if you looked at them under a magnifying glass it`s an overlapping weave that appears to have individual (vinyl) fibers on it....I am not a fan of them and the only thing I`ve ever been able to get good results with is Spray and Gloss or Mckees matte spray...

I guess I need to try either a panel wipe spray or mckees wax remover spray (I just read the description again and it does say vinyl)

I wonder if the new Gyeon Vinyl cleaner would have any affect on these stains? I have a bottle but have not yet tried it yet (sorry). Could possibly spray some and gently work it into the grooved pattern with a very soft brush, then wipe clean with a plush microfiber.

Just a thought. Please post what you find that works...

Well the owner is trying to get the car to me Today so he can have it before I go out of town Saturday so I may be tackling this issue sooner than I thought. I guess this is one of those times when I`m glad I bought all this random stuff for one of those "just in case you need it" moments.

update

water spots 95% gone thanks to gyeon water spot

panel wipe And mckees wax remover= no dice on the white haze

man, oh man I dunno what to do now
this is not cool

Well we have a trail hawk with a matte black stripe. I was spotted and I posted here, Mike Lambert advised me to hit it with a finishing polish. I used PA Master Polish, because of its low residue and a white rupes pad, it cleaned it up 100%. I wiped it out with 10% IPA then coated it and boom it was better than new. It looked so bad, I was at the point of fix it or replace it so I had nothing to loose.

Now my stripe is not textured but if it your client is at the fix it or replace it stage, give it a whirl.
