Stained Grill

After detailing my car today I noticed that my grill was seriously stained from who knows what. However, I suspect my installer who applied a clear bra on my hood to have something to do with it. I am positive it was on accident, but is there anything I can do to somehow get it off and looking like new?

It sounds like the installer who applied your clear bra may have used some type of solution during the installation process. Maybe you should shown the grill to the installer and ask about what might have stained your grill. That could be a good starting point to help identify what caused the stain and how best to remove it.

Here are some pics

I am pretty sure my installer did use some solution, I didn't notice it the day I picked up but the day after, im just waiting on his response. Is there anything I can try on my own to get rid of it? Will "Back to Black" work on this?

I'm curious when you say "clear bra" are u referring to something like 3m paint protection film. You are suppose to use a 50/50 solution of alcohol and water to apply the film, but a thorough cleaning is required prior to applying. I'm not sure if something else was used other than the clear film.

Yes, I am referring to the 3M paint protection film.

Does anyone have recommendations on what I can do to get it off? I appreciate the help:)

If its under the film, then the only way to do that is to take it off and reapply CORRECTLY! I looked into doing that paint protection film and its quite involved for application purposes. You need to pull and stretch at a constant tension in order to prevent "streaking," which is what happens when the plastic retracts. If this happens you have to redo the whole procedure. I'm curious......how much did you pay for this process on your car and what was covered? I would recommend to bring it back to the place you purchased it and have them redo it correctly without the streaking in the plastic. The other problem is if those are air bubbles, which is justifiably something they should cover at their expense. (kind of hard to distinguish that from the pic)

Good luck and hope that I clarified some questions you may have had.

Oh gosh, I feel like a complete idiot for leaving this piece of info out:o The grill is not covered with the 3M film. I paid around $500 for the whole kit which covers the hood, front bumper, and side view mirrors with a 5 year warranty.

no need to feel like an idiot.......just trying to help you out. ;) That price sounds about right for those sections. You said the grill is not covered with the 3m film. I would presume so, but that isn't the issue or is it. From the pic it looks like its the bumper that has the streaking.
