hey guys, just used ssr2.5 for the 1st time on monday, i used it with an orange sonus pad. after the VM and CMW i did notice some slight swirls still in the paint.



would you recommend ssr3.0 or maybe a yellow cma pad ??



i use IP with the yellow cma pad and that combo really knocks out the swirls. the yellow cutting pad feels more coarse than the orange pad from sonus.



what do you guys think, and what have your experiences been :nixweiss
 
2.5 can handle some pretty bad swirls. If you still have slight swirls left over, I'd just go over it with 2.5 again, or maybe just 2.0.



I don't think any Autopian should have to use SSR3 on their own vehicles. SSR3 is for really neglected finishes.
 
The yellow pad in the sonus line (discontinued I believe... dunno) is more aggressive than the orange. I finally had this confrimed the other day. The SFX yellow is also more aggressive than the Sonus orange pad. I would give yellow SFX a-go and see what happens.

I honestly think that all its needs is just another pass - oftentimes that'll fix things without having to step up in aggressiveness. I'd try not to go the SSR3 route, cause SSR2.5 is a lot easier to go straight to wax from (on most colors except for red, black, deep grays and blues, you'll need a FP to get them to look good, IMHO). SSR3 is definetly going to require a finishing polish.
 
SFX pads are sold here at Autopia. I think they maybe on sale now, but I'm not sure. They have SFX yellow, green and blue. I know the Sonus pads are on sale, but I'm not sure about the SFX.



I was told the SFX line was made for those with a little more eperience.... whatever that means, but the SFX yellow was more aggressive than orange.



I agree with Tim, before buying more pads and polish, try one more go with the 2.5 and Sonus orange. Work slow and break it down fully once more. It may take care of the problem w/o spending the extra dough!



Also, be sure you're not using too much product. It shoud definitely take less than 4 oz to do the entire car.
