SSR2.5 Impressed

Just got a chance to try out SSR2.5 with my rotary I tried the Edge Green pad first it left alot of marrying then I went over with the blue edge pad and I was done and ready to wax. The paint was perfect no swirls or buffer marks and the product smells so good...

It's a great product (as is everything that comes from poorboy) and smells like your making a smoothie :)

Damn I am anxious enough already, waiting for my PC to arrive. I already have the Poorboys SSR 2.5 and I am waiting to try it out with the PC when it comes in. You guys are making me jealous hehe I can't wait.

So far, I couldn't agree more. I've only had the chance to use the SSR2.5 once, and that was briefly....... with both a rotary, and a PC. It seemed to work very nicely with both. As a matter of fact, that is one of the great attributes of Poorboy's polishes............. most of them work equally as well with a PC, as they do with the rotary. That's a great advantage to people who don't want to go crazy buying all kinds of machines and pads simply to keep their personal vehicles paint in tip-top shape! :bigups

Are the results between SSR2 with a cutting pad almost the same as SSR2.5 with a polish pad? Or maybe I should ask is there a significant difference between the two used with the same pad. I don't have SSR2.5.:(

For me, there seems to be a significant difference between the 2 products' levels of abrasiveness.

The product has a very different texture to when you have it on your finger feels like sand but it diminish's to nothing but polshing oil when your done. Great product I like that I can go straight from SSR2.5 to waxing instead of following with another lighter polish.

Personally I prefer to do multiple passes with the SSR2.5 and a polishing pad rather than use a cutting pad. I hate the hazing that a cutting pad invariably induces.

If you ned to step up to a cutting pad, then you probably need to use a more aggressive polish (JMO).

Oh, and go buy some SSR2.5.......NOW! :lmfao

Yah my absolute favorite pad is the edge blue pad leaves no marrying and does a great job at medium cutting. For stronger jobs I use compound powder cleaner and a yellow pad or a green pad with SSR2.5.

I needed this thread.

Just bought a 94 Olds 88, medium garnet red (burgundy). It's not had the scratches from 10 yrs of use polished out and I'm going to tackle the job today.

It has a lot or the normal use type of marring/scratches around the gas door, the locks, trunk lock, on the top where a package has been laid and then slid off rather than lifted up.....all that normal use stuff. Only a couple of deeper scratches on the passenger side that probably won't benefit from polishing. The paint is in pretty good shape considering it's ten yrs old and that the car was owned by normal, non-detailgeek type folks. :)

I'm planning to use r2.5, a rotary, and thanks to this thread I'll start w/the blue pad. If that's not enough I'll progress to a heavier pad or even r3 and a heavier cut pad. Wish I had a good wool pad as that's what was recommended by my friend but....whaddayagunnadu. I have several Edge quick release pads to use up so I'm gunna try them out.

Ill report back tomorrow.

I havent really ever needed to use anything more then the edge green pad the yellow pad is pretty agressive the green one leaves its fair share of marrying. The blue one is my favorite it does a good job without leaving marrying. SSR2.5 is great
