SSR2.5 and more

i just used SSR2.5 and pro polish on my moms hand me down now my car a 99 windstar and there is still a heck of alot of stone chips and scratches SSR2.5 didnt get and i know i should probably go get a pretty aggressive polish to do the whole car but it was very noticeable after claying, polishing and then topping it with optimum spray car wax and megs UQD spray . going to do the rest of the car tomorrow most likely and take pics .

Why do ALL that work and then just use a spray wax? Sealants would last longer and be just easy to apply and remove, I do beleive. Im just not sold on spray waxes when the waxes such as NATTYS are so easy to use , along with the sealants that are available such as EX,EXP,PWS,UPP. There are more out there, but these are either what I have or would try next order from either Troy or Steve.

Doing this with a PC I assume? Slow down. Multiple passes - I stress the multiple. Be patient. With a PC, it takes time. And I gotta second the notion that stone chips are not going away by polishing. :)

SSR 2.5 is some strong polish. It can take out most defects if you are patient like JP said. If you are looking for agressiveness with the pc and 2.5 use am orange pad.

used and orange pad and i only had time for two passes with the orange 6.5 pad and ssr 2.5, and no i know that i wasnt going to be polishing out stone chips LOL i am not that dumb ,,, but the paint is royally xxxxed but i think i did a considerable amount of work and restored it as best as it will get in my mind ..

as for the spray wax i have only a little eagle one stuff left because i did not have time to apply normal wax and nor the need to apply it and waste it on a 10 year old car with rust spots and terrible paint in the first place so i wasnt about to go wasting my P21s on a xxxxty windstar LOL ... so its getting my eagle one and Megs UQD.

i will be buying a PFW pad and megs 105 soon so i can do the job right for next time with such a neglected paint finish . pics are up in the appropriate section for viewing,

also i had to work at 5 today so i didnt possibly have any time after polishing which is another reason i spray waxed it !

How much pressure were you using and what kind of hand speed (movement of the PC across the paint)? The PC does a good job, but it has to be moved slowly (1-2" per second) with moderate pressure and multiple passes on speed 5 or 6. Make sure that you break the polish down completely. Keep at it. Your results will get better each time.

very moderate hand pressure on the machine but i definately didnt hold it lightly to the paint either and yes my movements were very slow when i moved the polisher pad in each direction as per that method as close as i could estimate ..

Depending on your situation, some people will apply up to 20lbs of pressure to the PC. "Moderate" can be interpreted many different ways by different people. The way to get a feel for your pressure, is get a bathroom scale and set the PC on it and press down until it "weighs" 10, 15, 20lbs, till you get a feel for it. Then you will have a better idea of how much pressure you are using on the car.

ive just decided after doing a black car that i feel SSR 2.5 isnt for me and im reading that SSR2 the new formula dusts less, if i used an aggresive pad with the SSR 2 can i get similar results and less mess to clean up ?

mind you SSR 2.5 really made the two cars i did shine like no other !
