SSR2.5 and AIO

Another dumb question, but If I use SSR2.5 on a Black car do I need to follow it up with SSR1 or AIO. I am trying to purchase all of my supplies so that I have them by next weekend, but I can't figure out what to do. I have searched the past two days looking for answers and have come up even more confused. I guess my main question now is if you had to choose a follw up to SSR2.5 would you choose SSR1 or AIO?:nixweiss

SSR 2.5, depending on what type of pad you use, may need to be followed-up with the same 2.5 on a softer pad and then 1.0 on another soft pad. It really depends on your particular process and the defects you are trying to remove.

Some people will tell you AIO is not necessary and there are some that will tell you it is. Again, it depends on the products you are using as an LSP. If you are using the Klasse glaze, you may want to follow the 2.5 with some AIO, however this is not necessary either.

Just try different methods on a 2x2 area in bright light. Choose the method that works best for your vehicle.

I have SSR2.5 and SSR1 and AIO

I love 2.5 orange pad + AIO white pad combo. I never use SSR1 unless for light polish a few months after LSP wears off and I want to reapply.

SSR2.5 will not leave marring if you work it long enough and don't let the pad get caked up.

Edit - AIO is my favorite product, does such a good job. Definatly a must in your lineup.

Hope that helps,

Steve

I not a SSR user, but from my experience on a black car you probably have to at least step down from SSR2.5 to trying it with a polishing pad after the orange pad. Usually you could get away with it on a light colored car going directly to a LSP from SSR 2.5. Should you by SSR1 or AIO, it depends what are your goals. AIO is a great maintainance polish/wax. SSR1 removes more marring than AIO and has no wax. The finish of AIO is LSP ready too.

Thanks for all the info guys! My main goal for the moment is to get the swirls and scratches taken care of. I plan to follow up using Zaino after the SSR and/or the AIO. I really have spent over what I planned to when I decided to take on this project, so I am trying to decide on what would be best for the moment. I plan to upgrade and add product as I learn. Thanks for the advice and please keep it coming!

For what it is worth, I went from SSR2.5 orange pad to AIO to LSP without any problems

I done it few time before. The PB SSR2.5 doesnt aany contain filler or oil. So, you can go straight to your LSP :up

"hirosh, Thank you! I think I am starting to understand. I just posted a new thread about this a little while ago. If I choose to just use the SSR2.5 now and decide to go with the AIO at a later date, how long should I expect to go before using the AIO? Whats the usual time frame? Thanks again!"

i brought this over from the other thread to keep things simple.

let's see, if you are using Zaino, it might be awhile. :D

but seriously, since you are on a budget, i would go for the SSR 1 instead of the AIO for now. while the AIO is a great product, it won't do much if you get some light hazing from polishing with the SSR 2.5, while the SSR 1 can.

i guess right now you can do it a couple ways:

1. polish with SSR 2.5 and cutting pad. polish with SSR 1 and polishing pad to clean up any hazing, basically to restore the gloss. follow by Zaino.

2. polishing with SSR 2.5 and cutting pad. polish with SSR 2.5 and polishing pad to clean up any hazing. follow by Zaino.

like it was said before, SSR 1 is good to have when you don't need to heavily polish and just want a light polish becauase you might want to start over with the Zaino or it wore off or you got something new to try.

as far as AIO is concerned, like i said, it's a good product. you can use it almost all non-pourous surface like your headlights, brake lights, windows, smooth plastic trim, chrome, etc etc. plus you can also use it as a base for the Zaino if you so desire.

but for now, i think getting the SSR 2.5 and SSR 1 along with the Zaino is a good starting point. the SSRs are versatile enough to handle major swirls and light scratches, and if you take your time and properly work them, they'll give you a nice paint for your Zaino.

and if you need help on using the SSRs, you can either search for them (just enter 'SSR' on the search page) or just ask.

good luck and happy detailing!

AIO is a "must have", you can use it on everything. SSR1 seems kinda useless. If its one or the other you can't go wrong with AIO. :up :woot: :xyxthumbs
