SSR 2.5 Users -> Help

If I use SSR 2.5 with a yellow pad, can I follow directly with AIO with a white pad?



Do I need an FP step in between?

I would try SSR 2.5 with a white pad first. It will break down nicely to an AIO-ready surface. The cutting pad may leave minor hazing. It works just fine with the less agressive white pad.
 
FWIW I have used SSR3 with a cutting pad on a black car and had little to no haze. I followed with SSR1 anyway though.
 
Not sure, if I were you I'd use SSR1 first, then AIO just to be sure. IMO......it will only add 20-30 minutes to the process.
 
I am traveling 4 hrs. for this detail, so I am trying to get the job done in the timeliest (sp?) fashion possible and still do proper work.
 
Why not do SSR1 and skip AIO (unless AIO is your LSP)? SSR1 is my last polishing step before wax/sealant 90% of the time.
 
id go 2.5 and an orange pad if you have one, followed up with ssr2 polishing pad then aio finishing/hand then WG. traveling 4 hours for a detail where is this at?
 
I am trying to avoid the second polishing step if possible, due to time constraints. I have Menzerna FP, so it's not a problem, I am just trying to plan ahead.



The detail is in Clovis, NM.

I used SSR2.5 this weekend gone for the first time on an ordinary piece of marring. I used a polishing pad and made multiple passes to get the job done. I could have gone straight to AIO ( or in my case VM ) but because Im a relatively picky bugga ( and it was my car ), I followed up with FP just to be sure, but there really wasnt a vast enough improvement to warrant the extra step.

i think there will be mirco marring but aio will not remove it but it may make it less noticeable... good luck post pics when your done.

I personally found the diminishing abrasives of the SSR2.5 to leave a very nice ready to beautify surface with minimal to no micro-marring. Maybe you had a different experience :nixweiss
 
yeah i was using an orange cma pad, i still havent figured out this pad/combo thing to get the most out of my products. but im still learning what pad did you use? polishing ? ill try that out thanks for the info it may even be user error :(

Same here. If I was trying to do a fast two step dealing with moderate swirls, I would use SSR2.5 with a polishing pad and top with NXT.



The 2.5 would handle most of the swirls and the NXT would deepen the paint and take care of any micro marring while leaving protection.
 
Yeah, definitely the polishing pad ( white for LC, yellow for Megs ) and if it is a pesky swirl / mar, dont be afraid to make multiple passes rather than load up and go with a more aggressive pad. Dont expect the troubles of the world to be lifted with one pass just because you are using a PC. It still takes work! ;)
