Spring Fling vs. New Topper

Hey everyone,

I FINALLY got around to cleaning up the blazer a little bit. After a bad body shop incident, ( :aww: ) I really lost all interest in keeping the truck clean. But, my dad is purchasing the truck from me this week, so I cleaned it up for him. Hasn't really been washed since winter started about 6 months ago.

So, I did the exterior and engine bay in full detail mode, with just a minor interior clean up as I always keep its pretty tidy in there.

Engine bay was a disaster, as I never really did much other than maintenance on it. I was focusing my attention on the buick.

Process for the engine bay:

*warm up engine

*spray on Automagic 777 APC

*let it soak for 15 minutes

*Agitate with tooth brush in most places

*rinse

*top with Automagic Super Dress It cut 4:1 with water.

Exterior was a interesting task. Surprisingly the paint the bodyshop put on there was really nice, flatter than the rest of the truck actually! But they did a horrible job "detailing" the truck, even after I told them to not touch the rest of the vehicle.

Exterior Process:

*wash 2 times (yes, it was that dirty)

*clay lower body panels and hood

*spray on Automagic 777 APC on rims and undercarrage

*rinse whole vehicle

*Meguiars DACP via rotary with cutting pad at 1600RPM

*Automagic GS1 via rotary with cutting pad at 1500 RPM (finishs AWSOME!) I highly recommend it.

*Automagic Awsome Gloss wax via PC (WOW is all I can say)

*cleaned windows with spray way glass cleaner

*tires dressed with Automagic Dress It Right

This was my first time using Awsome Gloss, and I honestly can't think of anything other than "WOW :woohoo: " to describe it. When I was done prepping the surface, I didn't think it could get any wetter. I was definatly surprised when I saw the huge difference the LSP did. Does anyone have any idea how the durability is with this stuff?

Anyways, I have some pictures of it before, none are very good. And none show how bad the paint was swirled. :(

I don't know what the hell that stuff is on the insulator pad, but I can't get that thing clean for the life of me.

Beach15: The engine bay process is up there as well.

Scott: Thanks a lot. Its sad to see it go, so I detailed it for my dad before he trades it in. I just can't afford the gas anymore, I'm looking at a 2000ish Z24 j-body. :)

Awesome work Steve. You want a Cavalier?

Nice work Steve, yer do really want a Cavalier ? ...LoL I know its not really a Cavalier, the engine set-up is completely different, but I think its been way past its time, the first time when I was interested and got a Z-24 was back in 1988 so its pretty dated, how about a 2004ish SRT-4 ? ...LoL, yer thats a extincted Neon too !

That thing looks awesome! How old is it? Looks like it just rolled off the showroom.

Be careful with the Cavaliers. Two words for you: Death. Trap.

Ed: Yes, I do want one. If you give me some money, I'll go buy that SRT-4 right away. :xyxthumbs

HomicidalSloth: Its a 1997 model. When you're looking closely at it, you can see the major rock chip damage, and the panels under the door trim are rather beaten up from rocks and such on the highway, but overall its in exceptional shape. Other than that stupid GM piston slap when started up cold. :wall :angry

On a higher note, I'm about go to work on a BMW 850i. :bolt
