You WILL like my work!
I was asked by a UCM at one of my friendly dealer accounts to see if I could get some white stuff off a convertible top on a corvette. It was in a bunch of noticeable places, so I started with some spot shot spot remover and that didn't get it. Then some citrus cleaner, nope. In fact whatever I did just wanted to make it spread, even though I started out just trying to blot. So I took a small area and tried some black water base paint to see if that might be an option. It wouldn't cover, really funny stuff. Everything was just getting worse. Eeek! Since it was acting up on me I was afraid to use a strong solvent like lacquer thinner, etc., though looking back that might've been the way to go.
Then out of curiosity I just rubbed my finger on a part of the top that didn't show white. Lo and behold just touching it turned it white. Wherever you touched it it turned white. So I told the guy there was nothing I could do, that his detail shop should try and get the stuff off whatever it was. Anyway a week later I noticed it was still the same, like maybe they came to the same conclusion. Not sure.
Anyway just wondering if by what I'm describing what do you guys think was on there, and what could've been done to remedy?
