Spit shine - worth it on a white car?

I've been wanting to do a more thorough detail, and since today was finally nice, I started taking off all of the old wax and sealant to start fresh.

I've been reading about the "spit shine" method, and it sounds interesting, but will it really make much of a difference to the appearance of a white car?

From what I understand, it's supposed to increase the depth of the shine. But from everything I've found on my car, white in general doesn't seem to have as much depth as the darker colors, so I'm not sure how effective it would be.

So is it worth the extra time and effort to try out spit shining, or should I just stick with my normal sealant (x2), and wax (x2)?

I am planning on trying out the sample of FX-100 I got from Finish Kare, but I'm not sure if that will be enough to make any real differnce to the final look.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Am I taking that you really will use saliva as your car's 'wax'? or is "spit shine" a car wax or kit? Please elaborate on that one.

White Does get results, just not like a darker color like blue, black, green, or red, for example.

I suggest using a claybar in anycase, white show those tiny rust dots and other contamination easily.

I like to put on a coat of wax, and buff it off with a spraywax. This is FK Pink removed with DG AquaWax.

Much as I've touted the spit-shining, IMO it really *isn't* worth it on some cars. I don't even do it on our silver ones. On white I'd just get it nice and then maintain it.

Spit-shining can offer benefits other than increased depth (after all, the whole idea is that you're getting more wax on there than you could by other methods) but as far as something you'll actually *see*, nah, I don't think so on white. But by all means try it on one panel and see if your experience proves me wrong :D

I thought about this as well when I strip back down my white suv. Spit shine with Natty's Blue topped with AW to see the looks. AW alreadly looks great on the two layers of NB I have on now.

Thanks for all the replies!

Depending on my free time this week and coming weekend, I may give it a shot anyway just to see how it comes out.

If not, well at least I've already put two coats of FK 2180 with a coat of FK FX-100 on each layer, so I'd just put on a coat or two of Natty's Blue and call it a day... ;)
