Spider problem in garage

Alright this isn't about the cool things in or I plan on doing to my garage mainly because there is no need to with the current spider investation. I will get some pictures but my father has a workbench in our garage which has been neglected for 3+ years. I about a 1/4 of it up one day this week which took me roughly 2 hours and plan on working on it a little each day. My problem is that there are spiders everywhere and I am deathly afraid of them.

I'm only 17 and don't have tons of money (since i spent it all on detailing supplies) to go get a lot of stuff to kill the spiders. But I read a lot of articles and it said to get rid of car board boxes. I plan to get the glue traps for insects which people reccommened and some bug stop pesticide or something like that at lowes that mentions spiders in there somewhere and spray outside and inside my garage. No where else in our house has spiders.

Another things that is scaring the crap out of me is that there is pegboard up on the workbench above it. I am afraid to take it off because I can already see 3000 arachnids attacking me. Mainly from what I have gathered is that taking down the webs with a broom and spraying and keep active in like sweeping the areas is the best thing you can do.

My point is does anyone have any input as to anything else I can do to help aid this problem? Anyone else have this problem? Wow I hate spiders a lot. Hopefully I can detail some cars soon to get some money and take care of the spiders and set up shop in the garage. So many spiders, so much arachnaphobia.

Sheesh, there are plenty of people who aren't afraid of spiders...why don't you find a parent, sibling, relative, friend, to help you clean the place up. Spiders, like any other insects (sorry, arachnids) don't really want anything to do with humans, and aren't going to gang up and "attack" you. Watch less movies and more Learning Channel.

PS There can't really be that many...they wouldn't all have enough to eat...unless...they eat YOU!!! Sorry, a little Halloween humor! :D

Wow no way I am sleeping tonight, guess I'll be reading autopia posts all night without sleep. Hmm seems like every other night when every one of my friends is at home sleeping.

I hate spiders too, I stepped on one that i though was hairy, ended up being it's babies, man, they just started crawling everywhere when my foot went down. It was thouroughly disgusting.

I hate spiders too! What I do when I see some or even one is get out the shopvac! Put a nice long extesion on it and suck those suckers up! I do this with flies on a window too. I can such 20 up in a few seconds!

"Bug Stop" by Spectra (Lowes) works great, its effect last quite a well and is especially effective against spiders. Not expensive.

Highly recommend.:xyxthumbs

Ya buy some spray at the local wal-mart or home store.. Big problems with garages is that the Big doors dont seal to well.. You need to spray round all doors and windows on thie inside and outside.. I also spray around the foundation of the garage as well.

I do this about 3-4times a year to my garage.. I cant stand bugs...

I use the shop vac methed also. I do my garage about once a month or 2 months. Helps keep them down and you can always take the top off the vac and spray inside it to kill them.

Well I have web spinning spiders everywhere on ceiling, I also noticed that in the spaces in garage door(inside part) some spiders were nesting in there. My parents are suppose to be getting some stuff soon. I am planning on pumping like 2 gallons of stuff inside garage and outside garage. Weird thing is my mother really wants to get it clean too. She cleans a lot and says that once I get it cleaned out she would be going through there with a broom pretty often and sweeping which would keep the spiders away.

I've had an ultrasound generator in my garage for a couple of years, and while our spiders are not all gone, the numbers did drop by at least 90% after I first turned it on.

The device apprently works by emitting sound at frequencies above human hearing, which serves to drive away insects and rats.

Being a naturally suspicious and cynical consumer (and wondering where the ears were on spiders), I had my doubts. So the first day I checked it out by observing our cat sitting about 20 feet away through the open interior door of the garage. When I turned the unit on, our Birman immediately pricked up her ears, but did nothing else.

OK, good, so the ultrasound thing worked, and as the makers promised, it would not harm larger animals. I have have some scientific confusion about that however.

The instructions said that spiders would take about a fortnight to disappear. Well, paddle my shingles - they did! After 2 weeks there were considerably fewer. After 6 weeks or so, all that was left were a security guard and a cleaner :)

You can get larger industrial units in Australia that are used for commercial kitchens, so there must be something in the theory.

My one purported to cover about 800-1,000 sq ft. Since it fell off the garage wall a few months back, I haven't used it since.
