trying to get the underside detailed for some shows.



man, 18 years of surface rust dont come off of some things so easily!



after about 7 hours, i have about 1/4 done.



i wasnt going to paint anything but try and maintain the original look, but the bare metal with some rust just didnt do it for me, so i broke out the black chassis kit from eastwood and went to town.



i will try and get some pics up soon. its a ton of work to make an old car look like new on the underside!
 
I know what you mean, not much better trying to make a fairly new car look new on the underside either :) Ford decided to save some money by not painting the rear end housing on the Mustang. I am going to be installing new springs and lower control arms and will be dropping the rear end to paint it while I have the rear suspension all apart. I hope to do the same with several other suspension components.
 
heres a pic of the rear after i got it done for the most part. i will have to take some steel wool and polish the brake lines a little.

yep, thats original.



and sad part is to get a perfect 400 point score, you have to have it!

rust desolver, wire brush/scotchbrite pad, then brush on rust encapsulating primer, then go back and touch up with some semi-gloss chassis paint on some parts.







this coming weekend i have to get the exhaust done and finish the gas tank.

armstrong VCT from home depot.





cheap, costs about 350 bucks to do it. check the garage secion on here, theres tons of debates on flooring for your garage.

they are 12x12 tiles, i put 4 together and have a 2foot x 2foot square. had a chalk line down the middle and layed them in, got it squared up. then took them up in rows and put the glue down.



pretty easy and thats coming from someone who hates home improvement!

Have you ever heard of POR15. Its a rust encapsulating primer/paint all in one that will have a semi gloss look. It will save you some time on that GN.



BTW your messy garage is call clean for me. Man I really need to orgaize my garage.

OK so the tiles are underneath the floor treatment I thought they were painted on, is that correct:) ?

por15 is too thick and too shiney. it covers up stampings and markings on parts and bolts.
