Speed Stick

There was a thread on here where a member actually created that before this was released from Griots. We already gave him hell for not getting a patent on it! :)

In fact in that thread I stated I wouldnt be buying griots products anymore because of that rip off with no credit to its true inventor.

Has anyone contacted Griot's Garage about this claim? It would be interesting to hear their reply.
I shot them an e-mail, not to complain, but I just thought they might like to see the original post from here on Autopia. The following is their reply:

".....I see that you first mention the idea of your Speed Stick Wax (great name by the way) back in December by reviewing the thread on this site. We began developing this product in early spring of 2006, eight months before December 2006. Eleven months before the product was revealed to the public. The lead time it takes to bring a product like this to market is quite long. We work on our Handbooks six to nine months in advance of their in-home date. The development of this item took a long time due to the chemical nature of our Carnauba Wax, its high carnauba content, and the temperatures in which it must be poured to cool properly, especially in the push-up container we specified. Numerous experiments were made with many different kinds of plastics, temperatures, and formulas to come up with one that works well for our customers. Months of testing was completed before a final formula met our requirements. All of this occurred well before December 2006........."

They seemed to be very sensitive that members might think they got the idea from here on Autopia. It doesn't really matter much to me, it turns out that other Autopia members like Tort and Bence actually made something similar before I even posted my idea. Bence just posted pictures of his "stick" from way back in 1992! I first bought a cheap deodorant stick for this about two years ago, but didn't get around to actually trying it until this past December.

If anyone buys or makes one of these sticks I'd suggest you store it in a small Ziploc bag to keep it from drying out.
