Specialty Tire Dressing Application Advice ... Please!

Question to “INTEGRITYDETAIL� ... don’t you find the sprayer sends a fine mist everywhere?

I looked into this procedure from another post about a year ago ... admittedly it’s a great way to do it, but on the down-side, the residual overspray mist got on the rims and around the fenders and quarters.

It’s the same problem I have with squeeze trigger and pump-sprayers.

Is there a technique you have that prevents this?

i've been using AA tire foam for years and haven't had any issues. it's versatile for both wheel wells and tires. i've been also using the tire gel, and for around $6 a bottle, you get many applications and it looks great... :up

If the product is too thin, it will drift; however, using a diluted gel such as Optibond or TOTL's Best Dressed prevents it. That's one of the things I love the most: even in light wind it does great. I'm not sure what gun you tried, but any other Wagner usually has a wide-shot sprayer nozzle for painting houses which would probably be a mess. This gun has a high volume turbine instead of a pump like the other Wagners do. It really puts the stuff where you aim it. This gun is similar to a compressor driven paint gun and has quite a bit of control as far as volume, fan pattern, etc. As far as the wheels go I use a Wheel shield kit.

What's the name and where'd you get that Wheel-Guard? And is the size easily adjustable, or once you put it together, it's one size?

It's ez to follow the spray and use the 17" one on larger wheels.
 
I’ll probably just use the sponge applicators, don’t think I’m coordinated enough to move both at the same time keep this 6’-3� body balanced! :faint:

Been experimenting with 3 techniques/products suggested since I started this thread, and the results have not been what I was hoping for.

“TWITCH� --- I can not thank you enough! That was an incredible reference. I’ll research that product tomorrow and if it’s as good as it seems, I’ll be all over it and post my results!

Seems “RYDAWG� is extraordinarily honest and forthcoming in his posts. He gets my respect for sharing the truth about the tires, and the product.

You're welcome! I don't know why I didn't think about this a few days ago but something made it pop into my head recently... then I went :think2 this might be it, let me find it again.



The link I posted to the product was only one online store that I found who sold the kit. There are others but I used that one as reference.



And if it weren't for rydawg's comments I would have dismissed the claims initially and wouldn't have even mentioned it. I trust his opinion on it as well. :xyxthumbs
 
I just spent over an hour on the phone with the Manufacturer (of the product) technical department. They do have some serious concerns about the inhalation of fumes from the multi step application. They are also throwing in a ‘mild disclaimer’ regarding use of this product and it may allow a tire company to be off the hook for any warrantees on the tire.

They mentioned more than a few times that customers complaints of product getting on anything other than rubber may have adverse events.

But it seems after we got past all the ‘rules, warnings and cautions’ – the technician was pretty knowledgeable about the product and how well it works on many rubber and rubberized products.

Although I feel this is a good product, I’m very happy I spoke with them as I will be far more protective of every surface around the tire as it’s not designed for anything other than ‘rubber’.

I’ve ordered the product, and will give an accounting of the application and results.

I can’t wait for this to arrive!
