Is there a difference between Liquid Souveran and the paste? Because the 8 oz paste can on this site is like $70, but then I found the Liquid Souveran 16 oz bottle for $25, and the 64 oz bottle for $70.



And BTW, I've never used Souveran before. How long does the finish usually last?
 
Yes, there is a difference. Liquid is for light colored cars, and paste is for darks. Don't expect much in the longevity dept. of Souveran, it's all for looks. The most I got out of Souveran is 4 weeks, and after that 4 weeks it was completely gone (judging from looks and feel).
 
From what I have read the liquid souveran isnt anything like the paste version as far as appearance is concerned on a finish. I have the paste version and I tell you right now its worth it!! I havent personally tested durability on this wax, since I have had it on my car for less then 2 weeks, but as others have said it probably only lasts a 3-6weeks of good protection. The durability isnt there but its so EASY to apply and take off I can easily wax my car in 15 minutes with it.
 
I just did a little more research (should've done that first), and I guess that the manufacturers can't put near as much carnuba wax in the liquid form.



Anyway, where is the best place to order the paste Souveran? (that has it in stock)
 
AutoGeek, Premium Auto Care, Pinnacle's website. They're all priced about the same but the cheapest shipping will likely be from Pinnacle's site, and they have a 10% "detailcity" discount (well, they did last I ordered).
 
Oh, that's right. Forgot about the Crystal Mist/Souveran special. I would definitely buy from AutoGeek assuming they still have the deal when you order.
 
For your black truck, definitely go with Souveran paste. Autopia-carcare had it one sale for $48 a week or two back, but now it looks like they sold out. :(
 
Unfortunately, the Autogeek sale is over (with the special deal). Pinnacle website has it for $70 with $5.95 (flat rate) shipping, but Top of the Line has it for $59.95, shipping is based on weight and size so it shouldn't be that much. That's probably the cheapest place to buy it right now.

My experience was completely the same. I should have known better not to use it on my daily driver that is black and lives outside! I loved the look of it, but I'll reserve it for one of my other cars that lives indoors.
 
The Souveran Paste is amazing on black. If you don't want to shell out the big bucks for the Souveran, try the Meg's # 26 Paste. AutoZone has had it for....get this......99 cents!!

I second the Meguiar's #26 paste wax. It definitely is one of those "bang for your buck" kind of waxes.
 
I picked up a new bottle of #26 just the other day. So maybe I'll just go with the #26 until somebody has another good Souveran sale.



I didn't know that #26 was that good of a product, to hang with the big names. I've used lots of Megs products but never #26. I'll give it a try.

I think they are referring to the paste wax version of #26. I picked up the last 4 canisters at my local AutoZones at the .99 deal.



Is the liquid the same as the paste, or is this another liquid vs. paste Souveran comparison?

Meguiar's *IS* actually one of the big names. They've been around since 1901, so any one of their products is high-quality and reliable. You can't go wrong with any of their products, whether it is picked up off-the-shelf or purchased online.

One of my regulars early on asked me to use #26 on his cars and up to that point, I hadn't tried it. After the first time I tried, it, I used #26 almost exclusively until I discovered Autopia and begun to try other LSPs. I still really like #26 but don't use it all that much, I kind of just forgot about it. I'll probably grab a bottle or tin next time I am at the autoparts store for old times sake. :)
 
Based on my experience, on a scale of 1-10 on black cars, #26 is a "5" and Souveran is a "10". Same for silver and red and dark blue.

I think you need to be a little more specific and at the same time discerning before you assign arbitrarily based scores to two different products.



Sure, Souveran will yield *subjectively* better results because of the higher quality ingredients and processing. However, if you compared the same two products listed above based on durability and value, then the scores would clearly be reversed with the nod going to #26.



Sometimes price and perceived "value" doesn't necessarily make Souveran a better product. You need to take other factors into consideration before making the final decision of what product is "better". ;)
 
I guess I'm in the minority when it comes to using products on my daily driver. I have no problem using Souveran every 2-3 weeks on my daily driver. It's a pleasure to use. I do switch back and forth, from time to time, between Souveran, P21S, Meg's #26 (paste) Trade Secret and soon to be Butter Wet Wax. ( Souveran is a highly adictive & very expensive habbit!) As I've posted many times......I just love to wax/seal. Even when I'm using Zaino, you can still find me out there once a week topping with Z8. I'm just not a once and done kinda guy. I know that many peeps like to prep, seal & wax for long term durability only to repeat the process in 3 to 6 months. I pretty much prep & seal once every 6 weeks & maintain with a topper once every 1-2 weeks. ( which is why I bought 8 cans of #26 at .99 cents, last week!! I've also got the CG Butter Wet Wax shipping to me even as we speak. ) I'm a sick, sick man!!
