Souveran tips?

Just ordered my first batch of Souveran stuff (the Sizzling Shine kit) today. I have been detailing for quite a while, but this will be my first time with the Souveran products. As we all know, all waxes have their idiosyncrasies.

What kind of tips can you offer for the Souveran wax, detailing spray, etc?

Thanks

For the wax: THIN, THIN, THIN coats. Treat it like it's expensive perfume, not car wax. Otherwise, you'll find that it's the easiest wax you'll ever use; spread & wipe. There's no need to even let it haze.

For the detailing spray, follow DavidB's tips at Better Car Care. A nice way to use the spray is right after washing, to restore the "pop" of the wax and extend it for a few more days.

Don't think of the Souveran as a "once a season" wax; it's a beauty wax. Even though the protection is average for a carnauba, you didn't spend all that money for the average protection; you spent it for the stunning appearance. To keep that appearance, you will need to wax your car no less than once every three weeks; the "pop" starts to fade between weeks two and three.

Agreed. A can of Souveran will go a really long way. I've had the same tub for almost a year now, and I might be 2/3 through it.

You can make the Souveran last a little longer if you top it using Pinnacle Crystal Mist QD weekly - it contains a little carnuba. But don't expect more than 6 weeks. Last year from May through September, I applied 10-12 layers of Souveran. I'm sure most of it sublimated away in the Houston temperatures, but by the fall the truck still looked like $100000

I agree with what everyone else said. Especially the part about the thin coats. Crystal Mist is great stuff.

I never let Souveran haze, but I've read other posts from people that do let it set for about a minute or two before wiping it off. What do others do, let it set for a bit or wipe it off immediately?

Like the other said, thin coats, wipe on a section, wipe off. Very easy to use, very liquid looking.

In my experience, it lasts about as long as S100 does.

After three weeks and car is ready for souveran again can you just wash car and put coat of wax on or should you polish paint before new coat? I guess my real question is can you just wash car and apply souveran weekly or is that overkill?

You can apply Souveran about as often as you want. One jar should be enough for about 30-40 wax jobs on a small to midsized car.

I'd recommend using a light polish a couple times a year and a stronger one, followed by a glaze about once a year before waxing.

I use 2 coats 24 hours apart. Thin coats with a foam applicator, one section at a time, buff off with an MF.

I find that it deepens the color of my paint (bright green Jetta)where as P21s, my former topper, brightened the paint.

I'm getting 1 month out of it. Any longer and removal is slightly more difficult because I am almost at the point of a light, light polishing.

I always get compliments on my car, but recently a lot of people are amazed by the Souveran look.

I'm glad it's just me, but I couldn't find any extra 'pop' from Souveran when I used it on my dark green Volvo. And it leaves white residue on rock chips, making the hood look horrible.

Gotta find another car to test it ;)

I guess it is just you, Jose. :p

You really shouldn't get more 'pop' anyway but more of a deep liquid look from Souveran.

Well, it didn't increase that on my car :(

Guess it's because it was so well taken care off :o

Your car is defective then. :lol

Excellent prep minimizes the differences in waxes, that is for sure.

See what I mean?

After this, how could it add something? ;)

On my car, I notice dust will cling easily after I wax with souveran. Anything I can do to prevent this?

I don't have near the dust attraction problem with Souveran that I had with Zaino. Zaino on my black car used to act like a magnet for dust.
