Southern Auto Detail details an S550

I don't post much, but trust me when I do I'm sure you'll see at least one sponsor product.

This was not a statement against you. I was just explaining myself. You are not obligated to post using sponsored products. It's just a direction I would like to see the forum lean to. Makes sense doesn't it?

Troy - Yes it makes sense. It seems for the most part that most of us are using products from the sponsors here at DC forums. Unfortunately, not everybody can afford the products that are offered. Since we all have the desire for clean cars, and the economy is not the greatest right right now, I think everyone is buying what they can to use keep their cars looking the best.

I think SouthernDetail made his point. What I think I will do is start a poll to understand what people expect to learn from these posts since:

1. when some disagrees they will claim photos do not tell the story (that is, we can fake good results)
2. do not like it mentioning competitive or non-sponsored products
3. some seem to not like posting that are "details" that only involve wash/wax (no correction)
4. Is it is just a commercial for sponsors' products?

etc.

I'm not quite sure I'm following what you're are getting at here.

Are you saying that this forum frowns on competitive or non-sponsored products being mentioned or used in showcase threads? I make a point not to be that way except in the case of products being displayed (showcased) in pictures.

No this site is not meant to be a commercial for sponsored products, but when more than half of the showcase threads lately are talking about Chemical Guys, Zaino and Blackfire I start to wonder if Detail City isn't turning into a place of free promotion for those manufactures which is not doing any of our sponsors any good.

I'm seeing a need to do something with Detail City to give it a little more purpose than what I have been seeing lately. I would like it to be more than a fan club for our sponsors but I also don't want to become a place of free product promotion either.
