Soured on chat forums

I had no idea this many people would comment on my behalf, Todd called me this evening and I told him the sorted details of what I have been going thru and it just floors me that certain people have the capacity to be pathological with the lying.

He(todd) said I should forget about the clowns and move on and he is right why should I adjust what I do because of certain shady guys that will say and do anything to get ahead. I have been banned on two forums, one because of a jealous detailer who did not want to have anyone post in the detail section(6speed) and banned recently on DB because of the the most weird and insane person I have had to deal with personally in my life(will be talking with Bryan B as I think this guy I have had problems with messed with him on a Corvette forum).

Anyway I am BACK after a short timeout.Thanks to everyone here for the positive comments and I really mean that seriously.

This is great news to hear that you are back. I really enjoy your posts. Not only are you a great detailer but you work on some of the greatest cars. Glad to hear that we will be seeing more of your work.

I've been in a similar situation years ago, not with detailing. At first I was hurt and defensive but quickly realized those people were shallow, short sighted, close minded, lacked talent/skills, vindictive and self-centered. I let the attacks roll off like water beads on a fresh coat of BFWD. I too eventually left those groups as did others who grew tired of the crap.

I have to agree with what everyone else has said so far. But I also want to add a few things.

I am 25, I have been involved with probably 10 major web forums since 1999. All of them being related to the automotive field. TID is the FIRST website I have ever been on that I have NEVER seen a harsh comment out of anyone. This is the first time in 10 years that I have felt welcome the moment I started posting here. What we have on this forum is truly amazing and I really do not think there is quite another web forum out there like this one. The people here from the moderators that run the website to the everyday folk like myself, the amount of knowledge flowing here is incredible! I am not ashamed to ask any question here, with being in fear of being "attacked" or asking a dumb question. I sent a pm to a mod telling him and thanking him for producing such a great website.

As for other websites, I belong to a local forum called www.nestreetscene.com I am basically a founding member of that local forum, it has been around since 01. i have seen that grow from 10 members to our current around 1800. The personal attacks on that website are horrible, and if someone asks a "dumb" question or statement they do get bashed. Mainly because of the age range of people on there. I think thats probably where most of your problems are coming from, 18-30 year olds. Most are immature pricks that have nothing better to do than talk sh*t on others. I have seen it all over the place. The other huge web forum I am on is www.supraforums.com they have roughly 40,000 members and counting. I have been on there since 2003. That website is just as bad if not worse than my local one. But they do offer incredible amounts of information on the worlds best car, :tongue:

So dont take it personal Bob they are truly meaning to attakc you personally they are just to immature to see what they are doing is driving away knowledgeable people!

I completely agree. And we can all help to keep TID this way! Good information, positive comments, a great community!:thumbup:
 
I was first linked to this site form a Lexus forum, someone mentioned how there was some good stuff on here, and were they ever right: I lurked for a few days, registered and started absorbing information feverishly. Im thankful to be at a place where I can learn so much from a bunch of humble and talented people. Nothing but praise coming from me guys,
