Sopranos On HBO

I watched it last night. I don't know how anyone could handle 3 wives at
once. I have had 3 but not at the same time. It would make me crazy.
Heck, It made me crazy. That's why I am single and lovin it!

That is funny my wife and I were talking about that and she wondered if they all got that time of the month at the same time. I know with many women when they live together or even working together they can all end up with the same cycle which is pretty weird. Can you imagine three on it at the same time. YIKES!! But i supose one week of hell would be better than three weeks in a row. I keep trying to convince my wife we are going to become mormons but only prctie the more than one wife part of it. She simply replies OK

Man, I think that show is a bunch of crap personally. Mormons haven't practiced polygamy for more than a hundred years and for some reason everybody still associates them with it. I live in Utah and I don't know one single polygamist, but I know about a million mormons. If HBO decides to take that uninformed spin on the show then they are dumber than I thought. There are more polygamists out there right now who aren't mormons than there ever were mormon practicers of it. I can't stand ignorance....

Anyone else think that the fight was planned? I guess my timeline is all screwed up. I don't know how long it has been since he got out of the hospital, but it seems like that guy went down far to easily.

Considering Tony didn't have a 2x4, it sure seems like the smart money sould have been on Perry Annunziata. Hey, maybe old fat guys just out of the hospital are better fighters than I think. :)

Doesn't matter how big you are or how strong you are - you hit someone in the right spot, they're going down.

I watched a bar fight between a massive tank top wearing muscle head and a little guy. The little guy popped him square in the jaw once big time and muscle guy dropped like a sack of potatos, out cold unable to break his fall. He just dropped.

My friend in high school broke someone's cheekbone and eye socket with one punch. It was his dad's friend who made fun of his mother (his folks were divorced). I saw it 5 feet from me. I was like, "oh snap!" We all talk about popping someone for seriously busting on our mothers - he did it!

So Tony beating that guy's butt is no suprise. Just because you're huge doesn't mean you can fight or tolerate pain. Plus Tony had to do it. He had to re-assert his alpha male status through intimidation and strength. His weak strength after the shooting incident was a sign to others as weak in leadership. You saw how they were talking to him too. They were second guessing him, disagreeing with him and talking back to him. Tony realized this and had to open a can of whoop a$$. It was a calculated measure and the Perry was on the short end of the stick. You can't hit a made man, so this guy served as the punching bag. Smart move on Tony's part. You saw how they all looked at him afterwards. He's back and it's best to fall in line and not try or say anything. I think he put to rest anyone's ambitions. You saw how he puked afterwards. He's still hurting from the surgery big time.

On a side note, poor Vito! Man oh man.

How did going after a guy for no reason reestablish his position as a leader? I would have thought he would have made an issue of him just sitting around when he should be out washing the car or something. To make up something that everybody knows didn't happen and then beat him for it makes him look unstable. I don't know which is worse... to be perceived as irrational and unstable or weak.

Did you notice in the scene just leading up to the fight he was looking at everyone's muscles? They had closeup shots. Also he spoke about how he was being treated by his associates with his therapist and she said it seems like the alpha male syndrome was in effect. They smelled weakness. They viewed his weakened physical condition as a weakness in his power and judgement. People were plotting a scheming in other episodes. Plus, remember how they all viewed Johnny Sak as a wimp because he cried when in hand cuffs? They thought it could lead to him ratting to the feds! It was a sign of weakness to them. So in order to make it abundantly clear that he (Tony) was not weak physically or in his judgement or his ability to make firm decisions, he beat the living crap out of the guy which made the other guys say wait a minute, Tony is alive and well and he's in charge so I better fall in and fly straight, quit second guessing him and arguing with his decisions(which is what was happening - the scene with Chris at the wedding about whacking the guy for Johnny as a favor). It puts that fear factor back into Tony which leads to a healthy respect for him. Its the mob mentality. You don't want to cross a man like that. Sort of mob office politics. It maintains him as the dominate alpha male.

Very well said. It was a way for Tony to earn his respect back.
