Attention Moderators: I didn't quite know if this would fit in this forum or the Click and Brag since it's really a product review but it does contain pictures of the end result. Feel free to move it if you want.

Sonus Paintwork Cleanser.......UNBELIEVABLE STUFF! I just received a bottle of the SPC a couple days ago and decided to try it out on my 04' Expedition since it's been about 12 weeks since I last did anything to it, and it was definitely ready for a good detail. My paint was in very good shape and I didn't really have any defects to speak of other than some very minor scratches, waterspots, and scuffs here and there, so SPC was perfect for my application.

I applied SPC via PC with a blue Sonus polishing pad, which was a match made in heaven for this product but that's another story. It only took about three to four drops of SPC to do a small workable area and worked it just like a polish. It stays workable for a decent length of time before drying, and doesn't dust very much at all. I worked a 3 x 3 area at a time and started off on speed 5 but I found that on 5 it sometimes took forever to dust, so after about 1/4 of the car I started using speed 6, oh yeah! This opened up another world, and things started to really move along. On speed 6, the cleaner worked in a lot faster and was easier to remove. As usual, don't apply too much or it is quite hard to remove, but use the right amount and work it in long enough and it's simple, I even used it on the glass. A little goes a long way.

SPC isn't a very abrasive product at all, it's actually one of the most gentle products I have used yet, putting it right along the lines of AIO *but* don't let that fool you. I had about two or three nasty scratches and it didn't take them out, per say, but it definitely rounded off the edges and made then unnoticeable to the naked eye. Waterspots came right off with no problem, just like with AIO. You could probably get more scrubbing power or cutting power out of it if you used a stiffer pad, like the Sonus green pad or a LC white pad. The Sonus blue pad feels like a soft pillow under your PC, takes a bit of getting used to actually.

The biggest thing I noticed was the unbelievable finish it left. The paint is silky smooth, and the final product is a nice, deep, glossy, wet looking finish. It really does look like a completely detailed vehicle, not a detail in progress.

This product really blew my mind, I wasn't expecting anywhere near the results I got and would highly recommend it for anyone with a new or well maintained finish that is looking for a very mild polish/cleaner to use before any topper. I ran out of time today but plan on doing AIO, SG x 3, and Souveran over the course of the next week and will post pics when it's all done.

These pictures were taken this evening and all that's on there is Sonus Paintwork Cleanser, NOTHING ELSE. Not even qd or any shine enhancers. What you see is what you get after a nice polish with SPC and a Sonus blue pad.

Thanks guys, it really was a great product to work with.

On another note, DavidB passed out 10 bottles (I'm not one of the 10) for review to various members on the Autopia vendor forum so if any of the 10 people read this, why don't you guys just post here so we can have one big Sonus review thread. It would be great for people looking for SPC info in the future.

I wonder how the product will work for everyone esle? I can't wait to read these reviews.

I used this today with the sonus pad and PC. I couldnt really achieve the wet look i wanted.

It is shiney and does "bead" nicely after applying nxt wax which was so easy to apply.

But i seem to have lost the visual clarity? where did it go. Ill look for it on the pad :D

What condition is your paint in? It is a possibility that you may need to actually polish a little bit first. SPC is nothing more than a cleaner with *very* mild polishing ability. Also, what pad were you using? If you use a pad that's too aggressive, you will leave behind some very fine buffer induced micro-marring. I used the Sonus blue pad which, is almost as soft as a finishing pad and my black paint looked awesome.

Hey there finished doing the front end of the car today. Cleansed then scratch x. Then found scratch x and cleanse to be a better order.

I will then follow with #7 and finally nxt.

Ok here's some pics, its dark so just used security lighting ;)

The flake is very visible, hope it looks better with the glaze on then some nxt. Just want more clarity. Any ideas?

It's looks great, but I'm not sure if you need SPC if you are using #7. #7 is pretty much going to do the same job as SPC, so it's really just extra work you are doing. Now that you've perfected your paint, all you need to do is reapply your NXT once a month to keep it up and once every 3 or 4 months just do a quick polish with SPC or #7 to bring back the depth and remove any buildup, then go back with your NXT. Looks good though.

jonw440,

Look in the Autopia Vendor Forum for it. I beilieve he is still giving them out, all you need to do is pay for the shipping. In return, he asks that you post a review in the "Review" section of the board.

I've tried posting this question somewhere else but has not been answered.

The paint on my car is not in good condition. Will I need to use a stronger paint cleaner or will Sonus PWC be good enough? What do you guys recommend? Thanks!

Edwin

Depends, by paint condition do u mean swirling, bird dropping etches, buffer marks ?

If u define it slightly then we will be able to give a more suited polish/cleaner for your application/need.

John.

I am wondering, should you only use this on cars that have little to no swirling?

Or should the swirls be polish out first then put this on?

I tried a car today with it and it didnt look as good as on my coupe. His was a flat red right enough. Still good though.

You're on track JJ. SPC isn't a product that has much bite. It is great for cars that have had the defects removed or that do not have any defects. I like using SPC after SSR 1. On silver it really brings the shine out.

thanks mtodde.

I think ill use it after #80 next weekend and see if i make an improvement. He is giving me the car so i will post some pics up after.
