Sonus blue waffle weave towel and scratches

Today after drying my black car with the Sonus blue waffle weave microfiber towel, I noticed some very fine scratches all over the car. Did I do something wrong here?

I was under the impression that these towels wouldn't scratch.

Seems to me that it either happened during washing or the towel wasn't perfectly clean. Good quality MF towels should not induce any marring/scratches.

I suspect dust on the WW-a lot of dust and pollen gets blown around this time of year and if your working outside it can land on your car while your drying

Is it brand new? Have you washed it yet? If so, with what?

Its possible, but I wouldnt bet on it. Did you notice any dirt/discoloration on the towel? If not, signs point to either the washmitt or just general wear and tear from road dust. Or, if its ever been washed in a tunnel wash, or with the brush at the coinop. That'll do it.

P.S. as the owner of a black daily driver, I'll tell ya that fine scratches are just a fact of life. No matter how hard you try, you WILL get them. This is why I'd highly suggest switching to a glaze/ filling wax combo, which will help to hide a lot of them. My favorite right now is Mezerna FTG followed by FK1 Pink Wax X2, topped weekly with OCW. I havent tried this one personally, but I've also heard great things about VM topped with Souveran.

agreed. imo... ALL mf's can scratch to a point. i think it matters on how it's used as well. as ranney at pakshak states "CD test or not... Any fabric including microfiber towels can scratch paint."

1 weekend prior to this I went over the whole car with my pc and sonus paintworks cleanser and followed with an alcahol wipedown. Then after that I wiped the car down with Z8 followed by a coat of Z5 then another Z8 then Z2 then Z8 then Z2 then a final Z8. That weekend the car was near perfect.

These towels are a few weeks old and have been washed with dawn liquid dish soap.

I tried the towels and edge on a CD and experienced no scratches, so I am doubting it was actually the towel.

I am thinking that maybe dirt somehow got trapped under the silk boarder....would this cause it?
