Sonax Gloss Shampoo...

I've been a user of Sonax Gloss Shampoo for quite a while now... infact I like it so much that today I went to my local dealer and bought a 5ltr container of the stuff.

When I got it back home, I happened to take a closer look at the label and noticed that the ingredient list was somewhat more detailed than the label on the normal 500ml bottles.

One of the ingredients listed was 'salt'. Now I've always had 'salt' down as being one of my cars worst enemies, so how come such a high quality car shampoo should have this ingredient added? Anyone got any thoughts?

That's what I was thinking... I wonder if other shampoo's have salt in them?

Just seems strange to me that a car shampoo should have salt in it. Us obsessive detailers do all we can before and during the winter to keep salt at bay, yet we wash our cars with a product that contains salt. Don't make sense to me!

My go to soap her asweell, had read on another board the latest bottles are listed salt as an ingredient though.

Hello everyone,

I got a reply from SONAX last Thursday. Sorry for my delay in forwarding you their reply on it. SONAX reply took 10 days, but that was probably due to my contact attending a big European Car accessories Show in Paris around the 12, 13, 14, 15 of October.

My contact is Werner Hofmann, he is my technical specialist at SONAX.

Betreff: Gloss Shampoo question

Hello Werner,

I have a question about the Gloss Shampoo. On an internet forum I

participate on (autopia.org), someone who purchased a 5 liters container

of the Gloss Shampoo saw on the label that it contains "salt". Can you

tell me what kind of salt it is and it's purpose in the formulation of

the Gloss Shampoo. The participants in that thread of the Forum are

wondering what it is as their perception is that salt is bad for paint.

Please let me know.

Thank you,

Alain

Bonjour,

Our products do not contain any salt in the sense of cooking salt (NaCl) because this salt is corrosive! In the chemical sense is the salt of ....a derivate of an acid etc.etc. So no worries! Our "salt" is used to help cleaning the surface and the content is less than 10%.

Mit freundlichen Grüßen/Best regards/Meilleurs sentiments, Muchos saludos

So you see, there is no danger in having certain salts in a product like the Gloss Shampoo. Werner does not share what kind of salt it is as it is probably a "proprietary blend" or "trade secret" of some kind.

Here you go guys.

Personally, I have never tried the Gloss Shampoo as I have used the SONAX Xtreme Active Shampoo 2 in 1 since the begining and it is soo good that I haven't had the motivation to use anything else. But you know what? I have a brand new bottle of the NTS7 Car Wash Shampoo at home (the SONAX Gloss Shampoo with a different label) and I will try it this weekend. It's getting cold in Montreal and I need to prepare the paint of my vehicle for the winter months anyway.

I do know that we were contacted NUMEROUS times at the office from consumers in North America requesting the Gloss Shampoo and it's a good thing that we will make it available again soon. I'll keep you posted.

All the best.

Alain, please do keep us posted on the status of Sonax Gloss Shampoo coming back to the U.S., I need to restock my dwindling supply.

Cheers,

Andy

Andy (and everyone interested) The SONAX products, including the Gloss Shampoo, will be available soon in USA. Within a few weeks from what I can tell. And if I can tell from a few personal messages exchanged between David B. and I, Autopia will cary some SONAX products. Begin to look for it very soon.

Have a great Thanks Giving weeks to the ones to whom it applies. Safe travels to all.

Hello Andy (and all interested parties),

I have met in Indianapolis on Monday and got more information on the availability of the SONAX products in USA.

The products will be moved from a warehouse in Wisconsin to one in Indianapolis. This should take place, if all goes well, during the first two weeks of the new year. We expect to be able to ship products to retailers (like Autopia.org) by the third week of January.

Every thing takes so much longer than we expect, doesn't it?

I would have liked to have been able to give you better news (in a Christmas Gift kind of way) but it is where we are at at this time.

Hang in there!

More as it develops.

I wish everyone a very Merry Christmas (or wathever holiday you do celebrate) and a Happy New Year.

SONAX for USA and CANADA

Alain,

Besides the Gloss Shampoo what else will be available from Sonax USA?

Also, are these products VOC compatible?

Hello Everyone,

Here are the latest news. (I never forecasted that this would take this FRIGGIN' long. )

Any way here where the situation stands for now:

The logistics to move the NTS7-SONAX products from the current warehouse to the new location is proving to be complicated. We need to get on a waiting list for empty truck returning from Wisconsin and heading to Indiana to minimize transportation cost which were prohibitive if done in an "On Call" manner. We are on a waiting list to get them at our final location, after which time we'll be able to ship freely to retailers like Autopia. A couple of more weeks seemed to be what we are looking at right now. I am now full time for Newtown Sales and will be following this more closely. Expect to hear from me again in a few weeks at most.

And yes, the Newtown Sales web site is down. It should be back up also within a few weeks.

we are sorry about that but it was uncontrolable situations that created that.

Please hang in there! Your favorite car washing product, the SONAX GLOSS SHAMPOO will be back soon. (I know... I keep writing that :( ...)

Cheers to all

Sorry jmsc ! I seem to have failed to reply to your questions. Or if i did... my reply post cannot be found anymore.

The SONAX products are VOC compliant. The equivalent regulation in Europe as been in place for a few year already.

The products are finally in Indianapolis and ready to be shipped. We only miss the proper credit card billing infrastructure to be put in place in order to be able to ship. We will always favor shipping to distributors and retailers (online or not). They inturn would sell to consumers and end users.

The following products will be available in USA within a few weeks:

There you are. We are at the selection phase for next year's offerings. If you have a request for a specific SONAX product, let me know here or by PM. We will accomodate you if the demand seems important for a particular product.

Cheers to all!

Thanks for the update on the Sonax products. Glad to see that the Gloss Shampoo will be available again under the Sonax name. The Nano Liquid Shield (16oz bottle) sounds interesting.
