Sonüs SFX Polishes

It has been a while since I received the Sonüs kit but the weather has always been against me. Today it was cold and damp but at least it was not raining.

Wash the car with Sonax, then clayed with Sonüs clay. In order to try and use all the polishes in one go, I decided just to polish the bonnet (hood?)

SFX1, as others have said, this is quite aggressive stuff. A small amount goes a long way. Within a few minutes the pad was covered in black paint but did seem to reduce surface defects very quickly but did introduce some marring. It was relatively easy to remove the excess but did require more work than say DACP.

SFX2, although there was some gloss from the SFX1 the X2 does a great job of bringing up a good gloss. It seems that this also has some reasonable cut to it as the pad was quickly covered in black paint (SS paint, repainted 6 months ago). Working the polish until it is nearly gone worked very well for me. The only thing I noticed was when wiping clean with a MF there was some notable residue which looked a bit like the fillers from Meguairs No9. A few minutes wiping cleared all this away.

SFX3. I tried this product first, on a third of the panel just to see how much gloss it would create on a panel which was polished about 2 months ago. It did make a small difference but nothing dramatic. Using SFX3 as a follow on product from X2 did make a bigger difference.

What I was not expecting was the decrease in orange peel or the huge impact on surface defects. Considering this was my first use of Sonüs and the damp and cold were probably not ideal, I was very impressed.

Overall, I would highly recommend the Sonüs polishes, easy to use and produced excellent results.

Thanks Lowejackson for the good review....

I'm still working on a time to try my SFX polish. I'm also trying to line up a good digital camera to show before and after results.

Thanks for the review. I've been interested in these polishes for a short while now and it's helped to clear up some confusion I've had over conflicting reports.

Out of interest, what pads did you use to apply each of the SFX polishes?

Cheers,

Phil

Not to hijack your thread, but I used the SFX triplets on a black M5 today. The results were stunning. Very easy to use and not much dusting (with the exception of No.1) . SFX is a "must have" in my arsenal :xyxthumbs

Sorry, I should have mentioned I used the 3 Sonüs pads. They are great and stick to the backing plate very well indeed. They seem firmer than say the Meguairs. I was a little concerned they might be too aggressive compared to the softer Megs but they worked out fine .

Did you have any problems with excessive dusting?

No, I worked the polish until almost dusting appeared. There was some light dust but about the same as most of polishes.

If I get a chance, I will try the Sonüs on plastic and compare with the Meguairs plastic polishes.
