Something close to Z-8

I'm looking for a (cheaper) close alternative to Z-8. It'll be used for simple AIO corrections when buffing off the residue to give it a little more protection, but I like the over-the-top shine that Z-8 gives. Thanks in advance.

Has anybody used DG Aqua Wax and Optimum Car Wax to weigh in? I like that I can buy each of these by the gallon but would rather have a good comparison of both before buying a gallon of one (I don't like to "try", I like to jump in head first).

I've used them side by side. Absolutely no difference in ease of use, appearance and slickness. Much cheaper too. Great OTC product.



2nd the OCW suggestion if you don't mind ordering a product. Just as easy to use as Z8 and AW, but more depth and lasts longer.

Better depth, longer lasting.
 
I'll definitely be ordering it, I'm just running low on my Griot's Spray Wax and Meg's UQD (both of which I was pretty 'meh' about anyway). Do you find it takes about the same amount of OCW as Z-8 to cover a vehicle, or does it take more?
 
About the same, but like Scott said, longer lasting and a little more depth as it's a nuba vrs a sealant.

OCW is advertised as a carnauba-synthetic and Aqua Wax is advertised as a synthetic. I still think I trust Opt products more when it comes to higher quality (even though I did really ask for a cheaper alternative, I'm a sucker Autopian for up-selling myself on products)
 
I love Aquawax on a sealant. If you are a sealant guy and you will apply spray wax every once in a while (every other wash), I suggest Aquawax. On the other hand, you can't beat OCW's durability. IMHO, it's a little deeper and darker than Aquawax.



I am reading a lot of good things about Megs Spray Wax. It's cheaper than OCW and AW (by the gallon), and the sheeting is claimed to be better.
 
Are you talking about the XPress Wax in Meg's Detailer's line? I read a few bad reviews about it but have otherwise never heard of it being as widely used as OCWax.
 
D156 - Synthetic X-Press Spray Wax (not liquid Xpress Wax) - it's pretty much the same thing as Meguiar's Ultimate Quik Wax (just with a different scent). I find that it streaks just a tinge less than OCW (not that OCW has any major issues with streaking), has tighter beading, and somewhat faster sheeting (at least when used on glass). OCW looks better, though (nice deep look that really complements carnaubas), and lasts a lot longer.
 
DG Aquawax is great stuff, and it used to be every bit as good as Z8, but the last couple of bottles I've gotten have not been as good as some recent Z8 I have. Maybe its all in the mind, but Z8 seems to have the edge in depth and shine. OCW is awesome too, I prefer it for colors that look better with a true wax.

I am a big fan of spray wax/sealant. Megs D156 spray wax is awesome , second close to ocw , I like both very much.

there are two my wish list spray wax/sealant, xmt spray wax and blackfire polymer spray. Many good review on these two spray wax.
