Some Zaino questions for a new user...

Hello everyone,

Being a new user to the Zaino line, I have a few questions. I purchased zfx, Z2 pro, Z5, Z6, and Z8. I am trying to figure out how efficient I can make the process without sacrificing maximum bonding between Zaino and the clearcoat, and I really don't have the ample time necessary to search the forums. Thanks!

-If using zfx'ed Z2 pro, how long should I wait until applying Z8?

-How long does it take for Z8 to set for another layer?

-Will a layer of Z2 pro last as long as a layer of Z5?

-Instead of wiping off Z2 pro or Z5 and then applying Z6, can I wipe-off Z2 pro or Z5 with Z6 to save time?

-How can I avoid a full dawn car wash before Zaino?

-I like to use Optimum Poliseal as the "polish residue remover" after polishing with my Menzerna to save time (I follow-up with a towel to remove the remaining polish residue). Does Z-AIO also have this effect (I've used Klasse AIO to clean-up the polish residue, but it is not anywhere near as effective at removing the actual polish residue as Poliseal)?

Simple yes/no answers are just fine. I know these are basic, almost redundant questions, but that's how I learn. Thanks everyone for their help and happy holidays.

1. I have used Z8 over non-ZFX'ed Z5 45 minutes after application. Saw the vehicle nearly 3 months later and it was still very slick so at the very mininum, Z8 didn't not hurt the freshly applied Z5 and it definitely amped up the appearance when I initially used it.

2. Not sure how quickly you can apply Z8 again, but if it isn't causing any smearing or hazing, you should be okay. Personally, I would use it after every few washes.

3. Z2 and Z5 seem to have pretty similar durability.

4. You can wipe Z5 or Z2 off with Z6, but I'd just lightly mist it when doing so.

5. There is no need to use Dawn. I have used Zaino several times and never Dawn washed and have never had any durability problems. . As long as you are polishing, any old wax or sealant will be removed in that process prior to applying Zaino. Plus, Zaino specific polishes like ZPC and ZAIO are fully compatible with their sealants without a Dawn wash or water/alcohol wipe down.

6. ZAIO doesn't have the cut (it is similar to KAIO) that Poli-Seal does so I don't know if it can effectively remove any polish residue as well. Only way to know for sure is to try it and see. If you use Poli-Seal before using Z2 or Z5, I'd wipe the car down with Z6. I haven't actually tried using OPS as a base for Zaino but I have used Optimum Polish followed by a Z6 wipe down then finishing with Z5 with excellent results.

15 minutes between layers with ZFX-max 3 per day

I prefer Z8 after the first wash as it seems less likely to streak.

You should be able to wipe Z2pro off with Z6 but it is so easy to remove it doesn't need to be done.

For a quick detail with those items purchased..

2x ZFX Z-5p

1x Z-2p

Z-8 a few hours later or next day

Z-6 to maintain after car washing.

my two cents:

2x ZFX Z-5

1x Z-2

Z-8 the next day and after each wash

CS 24hrs after Z-8...........sorry extra step!

Z-6 as a quick detailer and in between coats!

I have used Zaino on over 200 cars, so I have a little bit of experience in the line.

I have used Z8 on top of fresh Z2, Z5, and AIO. Never had any problems, even with almost no wait time, with or with out ZFX.

20-30 minutes I suppose, but one coat is more then enough, IMO. Use it after every couple of washes to continue to increase the gloss.

Z2pro will likely last slightly longer then Z5pro, from my experience. Both are going to give you at least 6 months, if not more.

I don't do a Z6 wipedown between coats, but I'm sure you could use it your way if time savings are important.

To avoid a dawn wash, use Prep-Sol. However be careful, as prep-sol will give you your vehicle's true finish and you will be suprised at the defects you find after the wipedown.

When I spoke to David (owner of Optimum) that Poli Seal has fillers as is designed as an AIO type product. I would think that Zaino would have a hard time bonding. Polish your car, wipe down with prep-sol, apply Zaino.

What problems would you get applying Z8 pretty much straight away, i've put z8 over CS after 20 mins. with no probs.

Some people claim they dont.

I wait the next day so I know Z-CS will cure and dry all the way.

Better yet, go to the Zaino website and all these questions are already answered, besides why not take advice from the person who makes the product anyway?

You will also see there that it is recommended to do a Z6 wipedown between coats for best results but not necessary.

-If using zfx'ed Z2 pro, how long should I wait until applying Z8?

No lag time required when using ZFX.

-How long does it take for Z8 to set for another layer?

12 - 24 hrs. You "can add a drop of ZFX in 1 oz of Z8 to speed-up curing and re-apply after about an hour. Do not exceed 3 coats of any product (Z2/5, Z8, ZAIO) in one day.

-Will a layer of Z2 pro last as long as a layer of Z5?

Equal durability.

-Instead of wiping off Z2 pro or Z5 and then applying Z6, can I wipe-off Z2 pro or Z5 with Z6 to save time?

No, this will cause smearing of the sealant. You can spritz your buffing towel with a little Z6 to augment shine during sealant removal session.

-How can I avoid a full dawn car wash before Zaino?

If you are polishing prior to Zaino application, a Dawn wash is completely unnecessary.

ZAIO can be used in the same manner with the same results as PS or K-AIO.

You said you were going to use Menzerna first? Men. polish will remove all the the excess waxes and polishes on the car. Then go with your Zaino.
