Some time with Power Clean and SV Leather Brush

Spring is here and many are going to start to Zee soon.

Here's a little tip if any one is interested.



I found that you waist a lot of product with the ZFX bottles

and also distributing on the applicator was less than accurate.



I read on Autopia of some using a syringe so I went a hunting.

The only syringe I could find was the 2 teaspoon EASY DOSE

at CVS so I said for 2 bucks let me get it and see what happens.



After much measuring I found is that this syringe is perfect for

the One/Third once method. In other words this syringe full of

Z5 or Z2 is good for One Shot for the the people who usually

get 3 coats per one once.



1- make sure bottom cap is on.

2- pour Z5/Z2 halfway to the 1 teaspoon level.

3- put in 2 drops of ZFX.

4- pour in other half Z5/Z2. [fill only to 2 tsp level for some room to shake]

5- put thumb over open ended and shake like you normally would.

6- insert plunger. [very little room so just angle it a little]



A quick and easy way for Z users who like applying thin single coats of Zaino. I would use the bigger syringes if you like a thick application of Zaino. Hope this helps some.
 
A good source for appropriately sized syringes is your veterinarian or a local vet supply. My vet gave me a 35 mL and 60 mL syringe; I've found the 35 mL works great for 1/2 ounce mixing and application (the tip on the 60 is too large, imo,so I haven't tried it yet).



I'm glad others are adopting the syringe technique - I don't want to be the only nut using medical supplies for detailing. :D BTW, I'm helping a friend bring a '92 Mustang back to life over the weekend . . . the plan is to clay, polish with PIII Machine Glaze, then three injections of Z. Watch for before/after pics . . .

I actually got the idea from TortoiseAWD. I had to try it out on my first application of Zaino. Next time I do use the syringe, I'll keep my thumb over the open end, shake, then insert the plunger.



On a side note for you 4x4 owners, syringes are great for putting gear oil in your differentials and transfer case. There was no way I would be able to pour in the oil from the bottle in my differentials and transfer case. So I found a few syringes and just started injecting the oil in there. Worked awesome!

Just as a BTW, I believe auto shops carry pumps that will screw right on top of the gear lube bottle. The pump has a length of vinyl hose attached, so you attach the pump, stick the hose in the filler hole, and pump away. Not saying it would work any better than a syringe (obviously you found a good solution); just putting the info out there for anyone else that might need to do tranny work, but doesn't have access to large syringes.

Hobby shops are also a good source for 2 oz syringes...I found you have to be a little more careful when using Z2 than Z5..I think its because the Z2 is thinner..I got 5 coats from 3/4 oz of Z5

using the syringe and the PC..

Actually it was my first time using Z!!

I tried to apply by hand but I couldnt get thin coats and it made it harder to remove. With the PC and gray pad I got thin even coats
and it was a breeze to wip off...but dont tell Sal I used the PC:p

My dad just purchased a "clean" 2003 Buick Lesaber. When we went to pick it up he kept saying how clean it was and that he was happy with his purchase. I looked around the car and the interior and knew it could be improved.

Today I had some time after work to clean the interior for him with my main focus on the seats. I haven't had a chance to use my new SV leather brush and I was excited to see what all the hype was about. I mixed up some power clean at a 3:1 in a smaller spray bottle and spritz the seats down and scrubbed away. This combo did a great job and really impressed my dad with how clean his clean seats were afterwards.

Thanks dude. It still amazes me that my dad thought the leather was really clean. Wait until I get a hold of the paint!! Its pearl white...I'm thinking some 845 for protection will make it look great!
 
I love PC on leather. After you are done I would recommend wiping the interior with a damp towel (water) to remove any trace residues of the cleaning agent (which could attract more dirt in the future.

Take a bucket, fill it with water, and constantly wring your rag out it. You will be amazed at how much more dirt is released, and how much better your leather will feel.
 
I actually started using Power Clean sprayed on a MF cloth to clean the fabric on the doors of my Honda Fit. The black fabric would turn gray in the spots my arm would rest. Works magically!
