I know, I know...more noob questions! :hide:
I do hope you guys can put yourselves in the noob place and understand that we're just trying to set ourselves up for success. I've found that the more initial success people have trying something new the more likely they're going to continue in the autopian way!
OK, that bit of defensivenes out of the way...I have a 2005 Toyota Corolla XRS in Indigo Ink Pearl that is a D/D. See My Greeting Here! The car definitely has some Dealer induced marring I need to correct in a few spots and some micromarring. Hopefully this and this (note inside door handle) are good enough for you to form an opinion of how agressive I may have to get. Tentative plan is Wash/Clay/Spot correct as needed/Mild Polish/LSP
After prep, my priorities/preferences IRT LSP run: Enhance the flake/Protect against bugs or provide easy cleanup (does this relate to slickness?)/durability.
Questions:
Pads: I did get some practice in on my 13 year old paint on my previous car before the cheap PC pad self-destructed, actually achieving some credible results. Can I go straight to the LC DA pads for my initial purchase or stick with the noob recomended flat ones. I presonally like the encapsulated design of the DA or DAS designs.
Polish: Seems like people recommend PB SSR 1 and 2.5 for new DA polishers and I'll gladly go that route but was wondering about possibly going SSR 2.5 followed by Menz PO85RD. Is the new Menzerna CCP's usable by DA and how easily for us less experienced? :buffing:
Wax/Sealant: I know this is highly subjective, but those with experience (Scotwax please insert opinion below!) :LOLOL , what product/combo would you use on this color? Again just trolling (no pun intended) for products people have had previous success/liked on this color of vehicle.
Techique: Couple of quick ones here...how do you care for the instrument gauge cover and also those surfaces on the body panels behind the wheels that pick up so much road grime, etc.
I also need to pick up some higher quality MF's and if I can do one order for all the things I've yet to pick up so much the better. I've perused the Bargain section and found there are autopian codes at many of the sites, but IMO we could use a sticky there with the current codes for the various sponsors web retailers that are most commonly used. So if you know a place that has it all and provides a discount that would be great to know as well.
All those taking the time to help are thanked in advance! :woot:
