1. Why is the yellow WW "Heavy" cut and "medium in the rest of the set?
2.
a. Does the adapter that comes when I buy all Edge 2000 pads through Autogeek (the Edge 2K adapter) work with both doubles sided & WW?
b. Does it work on my rotary for both 6" & 8"--can I get a 6" pad and use it on my rotary?

1. Yellow is Medium cut in the WW pads as well. We have not offered our Heavy cutting black foam in the WW system yet but we may be comming out with the Orange foam in WW within a few weeks. Therefore Yellow is our coarsest cutting pad in WW as of yet.
2. All WW pads are double sided and will work with an Edge2000 adapter but keep in mind there are two types of adapters. One has the 5/16 male thread and will screw onto the Porter Cable DA machine while the other has a 5/8 female end that screws onto any high speed rotary machine. Therefore if you have both adapters and both machines the pads are interchangeable between both machines. With this in mind I would not advise running the PC at speeds higher than 4 with an 8inch pad since the counter balance on that machine was only designed to run full speed with a 6 inch pad on it. The opposite is not true of the rotary in that you can use both pad sizes freely on either machine.
I have only a DW849 rotary, not the PC DA system. I'm simply wondering if I could pick up a 6" green pad (the one I use the most) for tighter squeezes (like on trunks with spoilers, etc.).
This is the adapter that comes with the kit: "The Edge 2000 Quick Connect Dual Action Adapter". It says it is for my rotary. Is that right?
Where did the WW pads come from? I don't know if that is an acronym for the wave pads? Just not sure where the extra "W" came from... really confusing because I'm thinking waffle weave pads...
Anyways, If you are getting a "Quick Connect Dual Action Adapter" then I don't think that'll work on the rotary since they are differen't thread sizes. You'll want the "Edge 2K Drive Adapter 5/8" Thread" one. From then on out it seems that all of the Edge 2K pads are interchangable.
No that kit is for the Porter Cable Dual Action or DA adapter. The one you need is the Edge2000 rotary adapter. I don't know if they have a kit that includes that or not.
As for the orange pad. This is a popular type of European dense foam that many people call Orange Power Pad and the like. It has an abrasive texture but most of the abrasiveness comes from the pads density rather than the traditional porosity indicating agressiveness. We don't have it on the website yet but some distributors including Autogeek have them in stock as speical order items.

WW came out of the name Wave Waffle pads. Most people refer to the bumpy egg crate look of these pads as Waffle pads but we call them Wave. Hence WW or Wave Waffle pads.
the yellow waffle pad works pretty good for cutting, it takes a little bit longer to cut out some scratches but I assume that's safer anyway.
I'm pretty sure they're replacing the old adapter with the shortened version too, making the system even better
