Thanks for watching. I hope this helps.

Thanks for posting this. The process I use for show cars is very tedious. This sounds like something more cost effective for people to afford on their DD's. Great informative review. Should I expect less from you :bigups!

Thanks John. Did you see the first video I posted? The actual How to/ Review?

Yes sir. This seems much easier than the fill and reducer and multiple clear/sand applications. It is invisible but requires more time than a DD can afford. This sounds like a great addition for people not wanting to go that far.

I agree. Its good stuff.

Thanks for sharing Garry. I've seen several posts on this but you answered some questions I had. I've always used a fine tip brush with a bottle of touch up paint and it never let's me down. I acually have a small drawer on my tool box with just touch up tools

This seems great for personal cars. Doesn't seem too practical for a business because of all the different colors you would need

Um...aren't you going to need "all the different colors" no matter what system you use if you are going to do touchup for a business? :dunno:

I have a similar approach for touch up.
As far as Dr Color Chip and other systems for a sideline business the complete system would be the way to go. If you have the time before taking the vehicle in I could see where the complete system could be avoided.
The problem I have had with having paint mixed is sometimes there is a minimum quantity based on color. The cost can exceed an individual "kit" system. Especially with reducers, hardeners, clear added to the mix.

Since I don't do chip repair or touch ups for a living it wouldn't make sense doe me to order a bunch of colors and still not have the one I need when I'm asked to fix a chip.

If I have a regular client that asks me to do something like this then it would make sense to order the kit for their car. Any other time I would call up my friends that do paint repair for a living and ask them to handle it for me.

A complete kit would be needed like John said

Dr.Colorchip wants $14 k to supply you with all of the colors for a touch up business. Just seems like a ton of dough to me for something like that.

I guess I'm not understanding...is that ALL the colors they make...or for 14K do they give you enough to mix any color? And how is that the same or different than "traditional" touch-up? I never really thought about it before (color me ignorant) but are there people who do this as a business and drive around all day touching up chips? I presume that even those mobile spray painting guys need to know what the color code of the car is in advance so they can get the paint--or are they mixing the paint in the back of the truck? So if you were in the touchup business I would think that either you need 500 little bottles of paint in your kit, or you have to be mixing it, or you carry the 50 most common and you have to know the code and get the right paint before the job otherwise.

That's why an as needed per vehicle order makes sense.
Just would have to time it right, before bringing the vehicle in.
The funny thing is you can buy a paint booth for that money. Most paint suppliers will provide you with a full mix system as long as you buy from them that brand of paint. Ex. PPG or Dupont. All this if your zoned for it of course.
You have the right idea Garry. I'm curious now to ask how shipping times will be here.

When I had my friend paint for me he mixed it up right there. He asked the color when he was on his way over and the. Pulled out what he needed to get the color right and then checked the match before he got started. On Dr. Colorchip I would guess they would give you what you need to mix the colors. I would think it would be better than having jars of colors you never use.

Your right Garry, that's pretty expensive at least you get training. By their calculations you can recoup the investment fairly quick if you have regular work.

Companies are always overly optimistic when it comes to someone else recooping their investment. It may work as they suggest in a perfect world, but guess what? This world aint perfect and I dont see you earning 4K+ per month after expenses and taxes in the first 4 months of opening your doors.

Your right Garry and that was my thoughts when I read that page. There was a sense of sarcasm when I was typing my post but that never comes through well when it's in this format.

If I could make what they suggest just working part time I would quit my day job in a heart beat.

So very true.
It would be alot cheaper to professionally get involved with glass bullseye repair for under 3k. $60 a repair, no cost to customer through insurance, 15min labor per bullseye.

That paint repair system for a "touch-up business" looks similar to getting into PDR; and I suppose if you were looking to do wholesale accounts such as dealers/etc. it could be profitable.
