My friend's GTI got a detail today. The car has 8800 miles on it. The paint was curiously difficult to work with. I spent almost 2 hours figuring out what works best to remove the swirls and slight random microscratches. In my opinion, this vehicle has been my most reflective work so far, especially from close-up. Here was my process:



-Wash

-Clay Bar

-Sonus DAS Orange pad on PC with OC

-Sonus DAS Green pad on PC with OP

-Sonus DAS Blue pad on PC with OP

-AIO

-P21S

-Tires dressed with Autoglym liquid.

german paint, esp VW and audi, is a ***** to work with. i usually just whip out the rotary and OHC :D
 
Thanks! Yeah, German paint is hard it seems...to the point of frustration for PC owners like myself. Which reminds me...The rear hatch had some crazy deep super fine scratches...as if someone wetsanded it (no, not me). The owner told me that some people wrote letters with their fingers into the paint when there was salt all over the car. I tried my best with the PC and Edge 2000 yellow pads, with improvement, but they are still visible. A rotary is needed here...maybe even more
 
yea, i feel your pain lol. i had to do an audi S6 wagon not too long ago in awfull shape. It took the rotary with a yellow pad and OHC. Uggh
 
Nice job! Your killing me with the extra picutres but I'm sure you're proud of the good job. I really like that wax too, I can see why p21s is the most popular wax and it really looks like AIO boosts the depth, nice combo.
 
Yeah, VW/Audi paint is tough but it appears that overall, you did a really excellent job. Love that first full car shot outside, the paint looks killer. :)
 
whee, i see at least a zx10r and a gixxer of some sort in your garage. which means you did a great job on the paint for me to recognize them by reflection.
 
Good to see yet more excellent results with Optimum. Also interested in the Autoglym tire shine product you used. I'd recently dropped my AG tyre shine in favour of the Megs 'gel-type' stuff but I'm finding the gel sooo 'sticky-icky' to work with.

Ooooo...so close. The green bike is my friend's '06 ZX-6R and there is also the '02 GSXR 750 (that I am going to detail on Monday...it is also the same bike that is mentioned in one of the threads I started).



About the Autoglym Tyre Dressing...It seemed to work real nice on these tires. I have always used the stuff on my own tires. My only gripe is that it doesn't last that long. At least there's no spin-off!



On the other hand...I felt the wheels came out real good. They were kept in excellent condition with minimal dust accumulation...some of the cleanest wheels I have yet to see on a client's vehicle. All I did was a simple detail with EO A2O wheel cleaner and some elbow grease, then a nice rinse. No AIO or anything else. I wanted to apply it, but the owner was coming (I usually charge extra for this, but I was going to apply the AIO if I had extra time).
