Been a LONG time since I've posted here.

Here are pics of some detail jobs I've done in 2009.

First off in in May I did my buddies CTS-V (again, did it last year when he got it)

Next was a 08 FXT with a limited edition STi appearance package (owner said they imported maybe 500 like this, with OEM JDM Forester STi stuff on it)

Next I went to go visit a buddy in Dearborn, MI for a weekend and detailed a bunch of cars while I was out there:

First up was an 07 Mustang with some spray paint all over the drivers side:

Followed by a wash and wax only of this STi. The LGT, 1 series and the STi were all done on a Saturday, here's what it looked like when I was done:

Then I went back to Dearborn, MI. The 1 series had been parked outside 24/7 and tracked a bunch of times so he wanted it done again, so I did. No pics of it though other than these 2, looked pretty much the same as before, gunmetal wheels.

And an 06 STi that I also did while out there:

These next 4 are what wax/sealant looks like on the car. the drivers side front door has sealant applied too it, the rear drivers side does not. THIN EVEN COATS is key.

Then the guy with the TL sold a bunch of Honda's that he had and bought this 86 foxbody Mustang. This thing was awesome!, the paint was faded badly and was a pain to detail, but came out tons better (though not as good as I would have liked)

Befores, after washing/claying the car, you can see the oxidation

In this pic, the drivers side and center of the hood (at the top of the pic) were polished, the pass side was not (bottom)

9.jpg

These next 2 pics, the front of the pass side was done (near the headlights) and near the cowl/windshield was not done

The stance on this thing is amazing from the side. Very aggressive.

And of course my Mazdaspeed3 (with a full write up, pretty much identical process on all the above cars except the 86 Mustang, that got some extra steps)

Pics:

-Wash with foam gun

-Rinse

-Clayed using soap from foaming gun as lubricant

-Rinse

-Wash again with foam gun and a fresh bucket of clean water and a new wash mitt

-Wheels, tires and wheel wells cleaned with Hi-Temp's Wheel cleaner

-Tires dressed with Meguiar's Hyperdressing 3:1 while wet

-Dry with California water blade

-Finish drying with waffle weave MF drying towel

-Polished paint with Meguiar's Dual Action Cleaner & Polish on a Meguiar's cutting pad via the Porter Cable 7242

-Applied Meguiar's NXT Tech Wax over entire car via PC

-While the NXT cured, the wheels/tires were cleaned with Quick Detailer and the tires dressed with Meguiar's Hyper Dressing (again). Wheels got a coat of NXT as well

-The exhaust was cleaned and polished with generic glass cleaner and #0000 steel wool

-Engine bay was cleaned with Meguiars APC 1:10 and dressed with Hyper Dressing(3:1) as well

-Exterior windows were cleaned with Stoners Glass Cleaner

-Then the NXT was removed with the PC and a MF bonnet

-Then the entire car was misted down with Meguiar's Ultimate Quick Detailer and another MF bonnet on the PC

-Engine bay and door jams were cleaned with Meguiar's APC (1:10)

My brother in law has been hounding me for a while to detail his Toyota Tundra for him. He pulled his boat up to Canada in this Tundra a few weeks ago, so he wanted to wait until he got back to have me detail the truck for him.

I think he runs it through an automatic brush touch wash place and the hood/roof show the years of scratches from those places. I was able to get 95% of those scratches out, but some were too deep to get out.

Here are the pics:

Did 2 details on Labor Day. I figured I'd earn the name and labor all day on some pretty cars.

This TXS belongs to the GF of the TL/86 Mustang I posted above, he had me come back a 3rd time and do her car. He got new wheels on the TL and washed it while I was buffing the TSX. The white DA in the background is his "toy" also.

After detailing the TSX, I grabbed some lunch and went up to do this 06 STi.

Man, I love me some white STi's.

The paint wasn't in too bad of shape for a subaru (they have soft clear coats unfortunately)

After 1 pass with the buffer (the pics after the 2nd pass came out hella blurry)

5.jpg

All the WRX/STi's I've ever detailed (lots of them) fade/dull badly on the hood scoop and mirrors. This was no exception. Scoop before, you can see how it's dull and more yellow than the hood.

Where's the Edge, man?

The Edge got hit this summer, so I've been waiting for the paint to finsih curing. It needs some light polishing, mostly from after the bodyshop washed it some micromarring on the doors.

been working 10 hrs a day at my regular job and a bunch of saturdays, so my free time is sparse these days.
