Had the front bumper, hood and fenders resprayed. After allowing a few weeks I have finally detailed the whole car.

3M IHG and P21S wax the main products.

Looks great!! Two questions:

1. Did you use 3M IHG by hand?

2. Living so close to Meguiar's, how come you don't use their product?? :D

Yes 3M IHG by hand.

Yes I do use some of their products. I normally start with Meguiars Swirl Mark Remover, before the 3M IHG.

I just used the 3M IHG this past weekend, so I'm curious as to your application technique. Here's mine:

Applied to a damp foam applicator very THIN, and worked it in till almost gone, then buffed with a MF towel. I found that if this is not VERY closely followed, the stuff is a b!tch to take off...you??

When done properly though, IHG is really great stuff!

Never tried a damp applicator? Instructions call for a dry one, so thats the way I have always doen it.

Yes if you let it dry much it is a pain to remove.

To remove it I use Griots 100% cotton diapers, then follow with Pakshak MF towels. That combination works great for me.

Its difficult to remove with MF alone and if I just use cotton, I end up with too much smearing. Cotton + MF = perfect

What do you use on the convertible top? I use RagTopp on customers converts, but was just curious as to what a show winner uses?

Yes I use Raggtopp as well (cleaner and protectant). I actually did the top during the above detailing as well.

Nice car and you've got it looking great! Are you looking into getting a clear bra to protect that shiny new paint?!

I have thought about it, but so far no. I never seen a good one. :(

I just can't stand the lines...especially across the hood.

It might be something well worth looking into. I wish I had done it myself. About a month ago, I had my front bumper resprayed. Within a matter of weeks after I get it out of the shop, I'm driving behind a truck in rush hour that dropped some debri into my freshly painted bumper. I didn't think it had done that much damage but when I pulled over to check it out, there was this huge gash about an inch long, few centimeters wide!!!! Looks like something very sharp hit it. Well, back goes the old leather bra until I can get it redone. I don't know if the clear bra would've protected me from that. But it was pretty frustrating to say the least.:angry
