As difficult and unstatisfying as it may seem, it's probably best to just let it go.

That guy did a wicked job of the bmw i wish i could do a job like that. I tried once used some dawn and an old beach towel. Got out the dawn and relized im not a pro. I could never do somthing that awsome.

Lol im sure your job was awsome I wouldnt worry about the smucks out there its not worth it
 
I would be so frustrated with the "Friend." I think I would have told the client about the friend. I would not appreciate someone taking my supplies and pouring them all over the car. I think it would have been worth the risk of losing a client over the ordeal. Thats just wrong. Why would someone do that? Good job on keeping your cool though.
