Softest WW towel.....Sonus vs. Paks

I recall reading past threads where it advised that the Sonus drying towels were just as soft was the Paks Ultra Soft WW....



Just got my Sonus Trio towel set in....have not tested it yet though. They are not as ~thin~ as the paks which to a degree by touch may not feel as uber soft as the paks. I was under the impression that the Sonus ones, based on older postings, were the exact/similar ones.



While musing on WW towels, whether the towel is thicker or thiner, I'm curious what is your Favorite drying towel these days. Between the wash and dry process, these 2 factors are moreso important to me both in product & process....as I polish at most 2-3X, I'm washing WAY MORE which more, which is more suspectiable to washing & drying induced marring.
 
I don't have any Sonus brand MF towels, but I do have the Pakshak MF and they're pretty soft... especially after dozens of washes.



To dry my car after a wash I prefer WW MF towels such as Big Blue III, Megs WW, and Excel brand.



For polishing, QD's etc, I like the Pakshak and Viking towels. Soft to the touch :)
 
try the CG's ultra-soft waffle weave. after dozens of washes, they are still soft as the day i got them and softer than all the waffle weaves i have...
 
The Sonus WW's that I found to be as soft were the MF-200, MF-201, and the MF-204 WW towels. I ordered those a while back and they might have been replaced by different towels and part numbers by now.



My current favorite WW drying towels are the PAK ultra soft WW's, the Exceldetail Monterey WW, one of the Sonus WW's mentioned above (the MF-204 is still available). Or the CG WW. I consider these WW's to be identical (I sure can't tell them apart).



Another non-WW favorite is the Danase Water Devourer. If you like to blot then try out the Extremely Large Water Devourer, at 26 x 48 that will dry a mini-van that won't sheet rinse (no current LSP) w/o a problem.

i bought the MF-204 waffle weave and while it looks identical, the CG's waffle weave i have is a tad softer. i wish you were here, so you could feel them...
 
Any micro linting with the Water Devourer.



I have all types of Paks since forever...and ordered the Sonus trio bundle since I was ordering some Ultima trim.



I've also looked at the Water Devourer / XL Devourer as well. My only concern/issue with such a long nappy towel like that is microlint. I get this occasionally with my Monster Fluffys but I suspect it's just a nature of the long nap.

I have them all and they all felt the same doing a blind test. Since these MF's all come from overseas I can see where one batch of fabric might come out a tad softer than another batch, but fortunately I haven't experienced that yet.



While I liked the CG WW, they were very slow to ship (to me) and then I found them priced better at places like Exceldetail. I stockpiled up on a ton of MF's and WW's so hopefully I won't be tempted to buy any more in the near future (I still have one pack of the Eurow Shag's that I haven't opened yet).

It could be that the Paks are just thinner and feel softer to it.



U know how some of you guys love quality polishes.

I'm not familiar with that WW, but I'm sure it'll be fine. I have some thicker ones that don't feel as soft but I haven't had any marring issues with them. It was just when I got my hands on the first ultra soft WW that I decided to go with them as my WW of choice.

When I am drying my 3 vehicles I am concerned with how well and how quick I can finish the drying process not how soft the towel is. I would recommend the Excel Montery WW they work very well for me and the price is right. Good luck.
 
I find that WW's in general need some priming. I generally dry the windows first - to ~prime~ the WW before I take it to paint. But softness is most definitely a concern when drying paint.

I've been in the hospital and recovering since Thanksgiving, so I only had a chance to use the WD about three times. The extra large one was used on a dark blue mini-van and I didn't have any problems with lint. I did wash and machine dry them before use.

As long as the towels are soft enough to be functionally nonabrasive, then I agree with you, but I do still like using the softest ones I can get just to make sure I don't mar things up when I dry.

i scrutinize microfiber products very closely, maybe it's just me LOL. i haven't been happy with CG's mf's, and this is my favorite microfiber item by them. i bought 3 so i should be good for a while, i don't know if they have changed recently. hopefully, not...
