So Zaino has become a PITA if you live in NJ, what to buy now

I used zaino years back and loved the outcome. was going to reorder as im getting my mustang back on the road and figured i'd polish her up. and use it for the cady too. Both silver cars....

so i follow thier directions and either have to drive down the shore or order from PA, which i called and got a vmail recording. not really confortable about giving my cc to "carl"

so the dillema is what to get now. Mind you i do not have a DA and this all will be by hand. looking for something to replace the following:

zaio or cs to clean the paint up a bit

and z2 for the polish/sealant

do i also need a Z6 type product as well?



any help or direction would be great. i have been reading over a week now but getting more confused as i go
 
"Carl" is Carl Voellm, and he's a stand-up guy who's been around for a long time. I would just try to call him again or leave a message for him to call you back.
 
I switched from zaino to the mostly unknown image10finish creame. It has been about 5 years since I used zaino but to me the finish creame layers at least as well and adds depth faster. No mixing, but to get a really good end product you really have to use their surface cleanser (which is basically a bit of a cleaning glaze). Have only read where one other person on here has tried it but I've been happy with it.

Even though I do keep trying other LSPs to see if something is better and sometimes it is nice to have a different looking shine for awhile so I'll use others from time to time.

Yes, Carl is a great guy. I have had no issues dealing with Carl. He has even sent my order out and just tells me to drop a check in the mail sometimes. I am not sure I would do this if I was him and did not know the person but point being he is very easy to deal with.
 
Lots of good products out there and I certainly haven't tried many of them. I personally use the Prima line for most things and really enjoy the results with it. Nick and Heather have been great. Of course, same things has been said about Sal. About to try my first Optimum products.
 
upgp, cmw, fk100p, and don't collinite are some of my favorites. all of which i think are better than zanio which i quite using a couple of years ago.
 
In the days of internet shopping where you don't have a clue who your dealing with and who has access to your CC info, I wouldn't be too concerned dealing with someone who Sal knows personally and from all accounts is a stand up guy.
 
Ok, a few things. I'll second (or third, or whatever) that Carl is a good guy, his service is great, and you can order thru his website using Paypal Carl Voellm's Home Page , it's not a regular store, but you follow the instructions on that page and click the link, you have to figure out how much the order is going to be (add it up yourself, add the shipping), enter the $ amount and your CC, put the stuff you want in the comments. I was really torqued as you are about having to drive to Shore Motorsports, but it was really relatively painless to do it this way. I had complained to Sal via email about it, and he said he has "distributor relationships that predate the internet" and to contact Carl if I didn't want to go to the shore. (Why in the age of computers we New Jerseyans can't just order from the website and the distributor would get his percentage automatically in an auditable way, I don't know).



Second, many members have substituted the Duragloss line for Zaino. DG 101 has been used instead of ZAIO, DG111 or 105 for Z2, and I believe 921 for Z6. DG has no WOWA product like ZCS, but Optimum OptiSeal and Ultima Paint Guard Plus from Autopia Car Care are similar products (the Ultima is on sale this week and there is a good coupon code as well).



There are many great product lines today, and I don't think you can go wrong with Optimum, DG, or ordering Zaino thru HCV Industries (Carl Voellm), as mentioned above, their service was very prompt, order was shipped the same day I placed it and I had it the next day.
 
hmm, i'l have to think about this then. maybe i'll order through him.... if it wasn't for all these numbers thrown out for all these product it would be an easier switch. but man there is just too much to choose from....

1 clean with another polish looks great. another looks superb but doesnt hold up longer than 3 week etc.



im just looking for something that looks really good for silver, easy to work with and holds up good to weather/sun etc....

If you live in NJ, you can't order from the Zaino website. I used to think it was some sort of sales tax thing (that they didn't want to get involved in), but as I posted above, I was told it was due to pre-existing distributor relationships (who have exclusive rights for NJ sales). There is one brick-and-mortar store (speed shop) in NJ that you can go to, but they don't have the best hours unless you live close.

wow, that sucks! same thing with not being able to pump your own gas!



i use to travel to bridgewater a lot to my company's HQ.
 
Just curious. How long (miles and hours if possible) would a drive from north to south be in NJ? I live in Central FL, so it's a little hard for me to imagine the proximity of state to state driving like the Northeast US.:nixweiss
 
I'm not sure what you're asking. NJ is kind of a skewed diamond shape, so to drive from the northern-most corner to the southern-most is probably like 5 hours, but no one does that. If you are on Rt. 95, say, driving north, and are traveling thru, you would come across the Delaware Memorial Bridge and leave over the Geo. Washington Bridge into NYC in about 2.5-3 hours. That mileage is maybe 150? Traffic of course has a huge impact on times.



For me to drive to Shore Motorsports is about 1.5 hrs. It's not that far, but there isn't a direct highway route, lots of lights and stop and go traffic. In the summer, there is a lot of beach traffic, which makes it worse. It was fun the first couple of times, you know, counting how many Home Depots, Lowes, Wal-Marts, and Targets there were on Rt. 9, but when gas was $4/gal, I didn't look forward to blowing half a Saturday driving there.
 
well i guess i'll bite the bullet and give Carl a call tomorrow. my car is prepped and now needs to get protected. i really wanted to try something else but just so much out there i'm stumped so ill stick with what i know.
